I'll be in Bingham Farms, MI next week for business and am looking for recommendations of places with good food and better tap lists. Will have a colleague with me so food is a major component (no crappy bar food). I won't be heading downtown at all so please don't recommend anything there.

I'll also have my hardside suitcase so any good bottle shop ideas would be great too!

Copper Canyon (link below, but the beers listed are not representative of their offerings -- they'll have a lot more available) will probably be the closest for you to find. They have the best ribs that I've ever eaten. The beer is usually pretty good too. If you stay at the Hampton Inn on 11 Mile Road in Southfield then you can walk to the brewery next door. If you will be driving then go to the Places section on the BA site and look at the brewery options in Royal Oak where there are 3-4 breweries fairly close together. I think there is a very good bottle shop in that area too but I don't recall the name of it. (It's been a while since I've traveled in that area.) I'm certain that you'll get some other specific replies shortly.

Vinsetta Garage. Yeah, it's "bar food" But it's really, really good and they have a nice tap list. They don't take reservations, so expect a wait and try and grab a seat at the bar. Last time I was there they had Citra from Odd Sides and several other great taps.

Seriously...go to this place. And don't confuse it with Vinsetta Grill. You want Vinsetta Garage. Same folks that run Union Woodshop and Clarkston Union.

    11 mile and Woodward.

sorry mother goose copper canyon is crap beer and crap bar food. since you are in bingham farms take 13 or 14 mile road up to woodward and go to big rock chop house. upscale chop house and very good beer. they also on occasion have beer in bottles. there is a good bottle shop on long lake and woodward or try holliday market in royal oak

What kind of biz in Bingham Farms?! I went to Bingham Farms Elementary! And we had no good breweries in the area way back then.

Royal Oak is a good option. Also, there are a couple of not-too-far away - Woodward Avenue Brewers and Black Lotus. You can find every brewpub in the area (and U.S. and Canada) at www.pubquest.com. Sorry, can't help you on bottleshops.

Yeah, I looked at the beers on the BA page for this brewery after reading the OP's post but didn't read the reviews of the place before making my recommendation. My Bad. It's been 7-8 years since I've been there, and I enjoyed it so much back then so that it became my dining room whenever I stayed at the Hampton Inn. Sadly this place has gone downhill.

Big Rock Chop House is what you want, so I am seconding the recommendations. Dan Rogers makes beers that routinely win at WBC and GABF. Hope your expense account has a high limit.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Pizzeria Biga in Southfield was suppose to have a decent tap list and the pizza is suppose to be really good.

Pizzeria Biga is in downtown Royal Oak, pretty good place. I would say big Rock Chop House for sure. You won't be disappointed.

Vinsetta Garage is stellar as well!

Vinsetta Garage and Big Rock are both great, but kind of opposite sides of the spectrum. I would also throw out Uptown Grill in there. They have a pretty solid draft list that is constantly rotating. Porbably a little farther than the other ones from where you are, but a good solid location. I have always been happy with the food there as well.
