It's been a while since we've done one of these. Stop by and share notes on a beer in this classic fall style. It'll be on September 23 rd at 6 central.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding an octoberfest. Tons of nationally distributed breweries make them.

Fair enough, if you haven't had goose islands it's pretty good.

Goodness! Too bad I'm working that night.

Central Waters Octoberfest & Schell's Oktoberfest. The very best in Wisconsin and Minnesota, respectively.

Wow -- two completely different renditions of the style. Has Central Waters changed their Okto since I last tried it in 2014? Back then I thought it was another Brown Ale.

Schell's, on the other hand, is always an easy choice.

So in for this one. Ayinger and Sierra Nevada on the docket for sure. Probably one more each German and American made (Paulaner märzen and...whatever I can find other than Sam Adams).

I meant for what to choose for the online tasting. Steadily working my way through this fall's offerings :grinning: So far Great Lakes Oktoberfest is my favorite this year.

Drinking Sierra Neveda Brauhaus Miltenberger out of a Sierra Neveda Stein.

This kind of collaboration is great. A nice blend of old world meets new world.

This is the first Octoberfest I've had this year, but I'm really enjoying it.

    August Schell's Oktoberfest.

Sadly, it's a disappointment. Just way too sweet for my taste.

This beer pours a fairly clear amberish color. The head was minimal when poured from the bottle. White head, and decent retention for what was there.
The nose has a toasty malt aroma. It's not extremely strong, but there.
The taste is quite sweet up front, almost too much so. There is some malt flavor, but the sweet is offputting, and overpowers it.
    Feel is moderate. Decent body.
The sweetness really hurts this beer. It could be quite good if it weren't so sweet.

Getting a REALLY early start on the warmup to the event (9/23) I see. Nothing wrong with that.

Way early, but I'm surprised you didn't like this one. I didn't think it was overly sweet and I loved it.
