This is easily my favorite Red ale made. So much grapefruit and citrus! I love the new label and re-branding.

Fort Collins, CO – On January 4th, 2014, Odell Brewing will celebrate the release of Runoff Red IPA. Formerly known simply as “Red Ale,” Runoff is the same recipe with a new name and label and follows Isolation Ale as part of the brewery’s seasonal series of beers.

“We wanted to give this beer a name, story and label imagery that would reflect the spirit of the season and better coincide with our other seasonal offerings,” said Marketing and Branding Manager, Amanda Johnson-King. “We also felt that Red IPA more accurately described the character of the beer, which is a very hoppy crimson colored ale.”

The name “Runoff” is a nod to the late winter and early springtime snows in Colorado, that generate the precious water so vital to the area and to beer making. The label art also depicts the shoulder season along with a vibrant red alpenglow that mirrors the color of the beer.

Brewed with a complex malt bill, Runoff boasts a hearty backbone and a ruby hue. The brew is dry-hopped with a generous amount of American hops giving the beer a fruity citrus aroma and a kick of grapefruit and pine hop character.

Odell Brewing will celebrate the release of Runoff in the brewery’s Tap Room on January 4th and 5th. Guests can enjoy samples of the beer, special food truck fare, as well as live music by the Waido Experience on Sunday from 3:30 – 5:30 pm. Runoff Red IPA will be available in six packs and in the Winter-Spring Montage variety pack throughout the brewery’s ten state distributor footprint.

Fantastic beer. I am cool with the name change, but will miss the goat.

Never had this one. Good? I'll be visiting Tucson mid Feb. and want to pick up some ODells Myrcenary and IPA and hopefully Hopslam. I'll have to try this one too.

I will miss the goat, too. Easily my favorite red ale, as well.

Summit Red Ale is also changing to 'Red IPA' - I think we've identified the first big trend of 2014.

    Good? No.

    Phenomenal.

Can't wait for this, my favorite seasonal from Odell and maybe my favorite beer from Odell too - at least tied with the IPA, Myrcenary IIPA, and Cutthroat Porter.

I'm a big fan of Odell but I've never had the Red. Looking forward to this!

If it helps them sell, so be it :stuck_out_tongue: My fingers are still crossed that Red's Rye is in sixers by 2015 :grinning:

the Cutthroat Porter is very good, had it on a business trip to Denver. Wish we could get their products in New England. Would love to try the Myrcenary!

Not to derail the OP, but is this the a new development where breweries are splitting seasons with product lines that have one foot in one season and the other in the one that follows?

"The name “Runoff” is a nod to the late winter and early springtime snows in Colorado..." Sierra Nevada did the same thing with their FlipSide Red. Either way if it means more beer choices, yay!

All I know is that ever since reading this thread all I am able to think about is some Odell Red,....er Runoff Red. Can not wait for this stuff.

(now the question is do I buy a Montage Variety Pack so that I can get some Runoff Red AND some of the new Roots Release, this one being a Pale Ale OR do I buy a sixer of the Runoff Red so I can have more than 3 beers of it?)

Ooh, this looks incredible. Odell already brews my favorite IPA and my favorite double IPA (Myrcenary). I'll have to ask my brother in Kansas City to pick this one up for me.

"Plus, all anyone wants anymore are IPA's, we had to call it that so people would buy it. Also Cutthroat Porter is now called Runoff Black IPA, and Easy Street Wheat will be labeled as Not Very Hoppy Wheat IPA But It's Still An IPA Cause Reasons. You people with the IPA's, really. Are you happy now?"

If Odell decided to distro to CA, I wouldn't complain. Drank a bunch of their ipa when I was in AZ last summer, already daydreaming about stocking up on some when I go there again his summer. One of the juiciest IPAs I've had, would love to try their other offerings as well.

Odell does good stuff. We get so little Colorado stuff in the valley, I miss it.
