lol for real! My GF has no problem with my beer hobby, but for real she would kill me if I was talking about beer on forums on our honeymoon.

I mean, we don’t know the context. Is this day 7 of the honeymoon, or was he on beer advocate the night of the wedding, pre-coitus? Those are two different scenarios

Late to respond here, but I can assure you that it works great for cleansing BA stouts from the palate.

Okay I give up! What is a clear ipa? West coast, white, invisible? Or am I behind the times here?

So why call it Clear IPA? Why not West Coast IPA? Just asking.

I bet some people complained thinking they were getting hazy IPA's and then they were west coast and didn't know how to tell the difference. Most people wouldn't know to look at the yeast and malt bill to determine the haziness.

Okay so I guess Clear IPA is the same thing as Southern California IPA. They are renaming it SoCal IPA > Hop Luck. Pretty tricky. I don’t think I’ve heard the term SoCal IPA before. Again maybe I’m still too old school. I decided to get 2 4pk of HL and one of the hazy stuff > FriendsGiving. After tasting both inside I prob should of done the opposite. 2>FG 1>HL. Hop Luck is clear alright. And clean tasting...as in not really much flavor there. At least I didn’t feel anything. I hate to sit on “clear” ipa’s. But I will give it some time. I mean SoCal IPAs. I did enjoy CYOA and bought a crowler of it.

They have nailed it. This is by far the best NE styled IPA/DIPA Offshoot has brewed. I could tell from the color when I poured it, but then the creamy smooth mouth feel and the amazing tropical and citrus fruits took over. I just went on line and ordered more. Congrats you guys at Offshoot, you took a whole lot of Shite and just kept your heads down and improved upon every release. Keep em coming.

    Cheers,

I'm picking up cans of FriendsGiving in a bit. I had planned to also pick up a pack of Hop Luck, but "clear IPA" is a marketing bridge too far for me..

Looking at my photo I took yesterday inside the tasting room mine was not as bright orange as your pour from the can. It could be the lighting inside that makes it more dull orange. I haven't opened the cans yet. I'm sure the taste will be a little different than on draft.

Just tried Shaken on tap at Beer Hall in San Francisco... Tasty, but sits really heavy on the gut. Did others experience this? Is the bar overcarbonating? Or is that common with milkshake IPA?

Not really. The cans I have just taste flat as hell. Little to no flavor and if there's anything to it it's on the bottom of the can. I will be donating these cans to homeless people who don't care what they drink or eat

Lately, the Bruery's been putting cans out for sale in the tasting room and the Terreux tasting room a couple weeks after a release. They've done it now with like the last 3 or 4 releases. If you missed the online sale, you can likely get some this way. Doesn't seem like the cans are exclusive just to the online sales anymore.

Yeah, I've seen cans sometimes. Wish they had 10 years sitting around.

I believe those cans are ones that people didn't pickup during the window, or if it didn't sell out during the online sale. I don't think they set some aside for walk ins.

Harsh? Not even close. I love the guys at the bruery and appreciate all the creativity they put into making beer. But I will have to voice my opinion when it comes to a good/bad beer and this just wasn't a beer I enjoyed. I still paid for it and drank it, but didn't like it. Shit happens and they understand and can't please everybody. That's the business of any establishment

Voicing your opinion is obviously fine, but maybe use a little more tact when doing so. Actually I've been somewhat harsh on Aslin beers which anyone can look up, but I feel like this particular brewery just gets hammered way too much considering the quality of their beers.

I don't believe they've been brewing the style long enough to get the criticism they have over consistency.

If they don’t want the criticism then don’t roll out these beers on a fairly large scale. Make test batches and sell them via draft in the tasting rooms.
Also if you are making beers professionally for a profit and charging premium prices, you are open to criticism

People don't use tact on the internet. These forums are mostly so that they can complain and bitch .

    Thus the longest threads...

I appreciate the point of test batches, makes sense.

As for the pricing, every brewery is trying to make more money. If the market bears it.....why not? If the consumers continue to buy...why fault the brewery? Definitely craft beer is a luxury. And we are all addicted to it.
