I went to the release and agonized about whether or not I should buy a full case. I ended up buying a case and now wish I had more. Such a quality brew.

UOTE="aleckpa, post: 3515208, member: 541457"]If you are heading to Asheville, definitely make a stop at the Station. You are guaranteed to get some Omega Point (and some glassware). I was just there and there is PLENTY left. Also, they have good food if you want a meal. If you want it on draft, you can ask for a half pour if you are looking to continue to travel west.[/QUOTE]

It's been gone on draft at the Station & the Tap Room for a week - Amos Howards may still have some.

What am I doing on this forum about beer in the South Atlantic area when I could have just been on the internet!

I know it wouldn't quite be the same but I wish that Olde Hickory would do a bourbon barrel aged Irish Walker each year along with the normal version. There barrel aging is just top notch!

You know, that's a great idea. On another note, I saw they just released 2015 Irish Walker with their new labels. I didn't mind the old label too much, but the new one is fresh. For $7, it's an absolute steal.

Could not agree more with either of the last two posts. Would love a BA Irish Walker every year and the regular one is likely the best value in the state.

Is this brewery price? I saw a few '14s in Asheville two weeks, prices ranged from $12-18 each, which pissed me off since I got a few last year for around $11 each.

Any Charlotte peeps still looking...well Total Wine Park Rd has 5 more as of lunchtime. $23.99. I went in to get some wine for the wife and asked for shits and giggles while I was there. Well it took them 20 minutes to find it (literally) but they had 6 in a box high above the shelves. Not sure if they stuck the remainder on the shelf but at least they know where it is now.

I swear that's what the price tag read at Olde Hickory Station when I took a look. I'll be back this weekend to confirm.

Looks like this has toppled Freak of Nature as the top ranked NC beer. That, plus everything I am hearing/reading makes me glad I was able to get a bottle. I am trying to sit on it, but it is tempting.

Strange that it hasn't even cracked the Top 250 yet though. I wonder if it's missing some sort of criteria needed to make the cut.

PS Don't sit on it. It's drinking excellently right now and there's a percentage of that beer that's been in a barrel for 7 years. It's aged enough already.

The formula for the Top 250 puts it at a 4.27 - so just a bit low (4.33 is the current lowest).

Needs more ratings. The formula basically uses that site average score to weight into the ratings to make sure that beers with 5 and 10 ratings don't dominate the ranking. There are a handful of beers with similar, or slightly lower, raw scores but with 30-50 more ratings that are in the Top 250 (like Blanc de Blancs and DCB DOS). With more ratings the site average score will have less weight and the weighted score gets closer to its raw score. Get people to rate the beer and it'll probably hit the top 250. This isn't a suggestion to get people to pad the scores, rather to just get more people to fairly rate it.

This is what I'm thinking too. I still have one that I'll probably wait a little while to drink, but not too long. I don't think it will necessarily go downhill really fast or anything, but I don't think it will really get any better than it is now. Like you said, it's basically already been aged.
