Its a Raspberry Double Chocolate Stout. 8.5% ABV. Aged on 40 pounds of raspberries, 11 pounds of premium Belgian dark chocolate and 7 pounds of cocoa nibs.

  23. opwog

    opwog Jun 16, 2008 Minnesota

Are you saying that because you know of it being on there tonight or because that is what you wish to hear might be on there? Looking at their facebook, they just tapped Old Rasputin as a RIS and the most recent Surly that I see posted as having been tapped is Smoke, back about 5 days ago.

  24. DaveAnderson

    DaveAnderson Jan 11, 2011 Minnesota

It was tapped Saturday for Al's Imperial March event, and stayed on until it kicked late last night. So yes, when KarlHungus asked, it was on.

According to Al, that's the only one from this list to kick so far. Except for Old Rasputin and Myrcenary, the rest have been replaced with regulars, and should rotate in over the next week or two. So if I were in the mood for something special on tap, I would keep tabs on Blue Nile, and not depend on timely updates to facebook.

OK, so what is the best way to keep tabs on them? Are they better with Twitter or some local beer site or some beer app?

Anything to be aware of this weekend? Plan to stop by Byrant Lake Bowl on Saturday (just because I like the place), but wouldn't mind a quick detour on the way back to the hotel if there's anything noteworthy to check out. Thanks!

I suppose the best way is to stop in. This is doubly useful, because you can see what's on tap and the menu usually tells you what is due up for each tap when its keg kicks.

Honestly, the only reason I knew Darkness was still on tap Sunday was this post.

Sounds good if you lived in the neighborhood, but not so good if you live in Hopkins, like me.

I am having a real tough adjustment period, having just moved from CA, where the whole beer scene is very wired (or wireless, as the case may be). It is hard to find a business there that isn't updating their beer lists in real time, through multiple sources all at once, but in MN this all seems very far down the list of priorities for most of these beer bars, breweries, etc., as I can see sites that are rarely updated, Facebooks or twitters that haven't had posts in months, event calendars are rarely used, and on and on. The only place that seems really on top of this stuff is Nomad.

It's not you (state of MN), it is me ;-) I have to learn to adapt.

I am pretty psyched to check out Steel Toe and will probably get over there in the next few days. I have had their Size 7 a couple of times already and it is that is a seriously great IPA coming out of a new brewery.

Surly Syx ran out while I was DJ-ing at Harriet tonight. It will be replaced tomorrow, because I'm the only one who can switch from an American Sanke coupler to a Key Keg European coupler. Next up: Gouden Carolus Classic.
