I'm in the Albany/Corvallis area (visiting in-laws and working remote) through the week after Thanksgiving. I've been out here enough over the past several years to have both a reasonable handle on the beer scene and an awareness of the well-worn paths in my wanderings. In Portland, I go to Great Notion; on the coast, I go to de Garde; in Eugene or Bend, I go...places (I haven't been to either often enough to develop a pattern). I'll be out here long enough that I'll have the time to try new things - or get reacquainted with some old standbys that may have fallen off my radar.

So...given all that, what places would be good to visit this month? Which breweries are killing it at the moment? Are there any upcoming releases I should be aware of?

For just an insane taplist (especially dark beers), APEX in PDX has been loaded up for a while now.

Recently had some BA stuff and some milkshake IPAs from Oakshire that i was really impressed with. I think Hellshire is coming out. Guessing both Eugene and PDX are stocked up

Mother of All Storms from Pelican is being released Nov. 14-16 and would be a good reason to hit the coast

In Portland, you should make every effort to add Breakside and Wayfinder to your path.

It would also be a shame to spend much more time in Oregon without visiting Fort George up in Astoria.

There's an active "visiting Portland" thread in this forum you might want check out. That being said...

If you have some time on your hands, then definitely make the trip out to Hood River to visit pFreim. For that matter, maybe even make the drive out to Baker City to visit Barley Brown. It's a drive to get out there, no doubt, but I'm not sure there are many places in Oregon making better beer.

Closer to home (so to speak), if you're into cask beer, maybe drive over to Oakridge to check out Brewer's Union Local 180.

    Have fun.

    I assume you're aware of Block 15?

Thanks for all the suggestions thus far, - they're greatly appreciated.

The risk of being gently chided for starting a new thread seemed like a modestly better option than spamming several existing ones. :stuck_out_tongue:

But, the reason we have several, is to not have one, big confusing one. Shrug. Enjoy your stay and Cheers!

If you want to make a trek down the coast I have a ton of love for Yachats brewing. Their best stuff is their wild and mixed ferm stuff so its probably not worth it unless that's your jam or you're passing through.

Also, second the pFriem recommendation. Great.brewer

Please don't pass on Upright. If you like saisons, they're the best brewery in the country.

Well, if you are in this area, there of course is Rogue, but I would say give Newport Brewing Company a shot. I was impressed this summer with the offerings (especially hazy crazy and rockfish)
