Other Half Brewing February 2017

1. it's barrier which people have easy access to as opposed to monkish/trillium, etc.
2. DDH ACE was released recently
3. The Collab should last most of the day, so no reason to line up.
4. Maybe some people are going to Finback today instead? 4 can release (2 hyped collabs) and 2 BA stouts

 

Other half has this down to a science. Was in and out within 15 minutes of line starting. Think they had 5 or 6 point of sales, totally seamless.

Just left. 25 min in and out. Still a good amount of both beers left.

 

tons of beer, no line. i guess the good weather scared of the line sitters.

 

Yeah. Five minutes. So easy and pleasant.

 

Damn...told myself I'd sit this one out. Might make the trek out from Long Island in a bit.

 

Reading some mixed reviews of the Throw Some Mo' - anyone try it yet?

 

Anyone ask what cans are scheduled for next Saturday?

Saw Untappd has a few people writing things like "Not their best" or "Too bitter/green." Might just come to my senses and trade for a can or two rather than loading up. I still have too much beer as is.

Surprising comments given how great the DSTT collaboration came out.

 

Huh, bummer. Debated on getting 1 or 2 and ended up going w 2. Sounds like it might be worth waiting a week or two on it

Drinking one now and I think it's solid. Maybe not their best but how many top notch IPAs do they produce on a regular basis?

Came to my senses and decided to sit today out. In lieu of buying cans I hit up Hoptron in Patchogue and bought a growler of Simcoe+Galaxy. Off of my first couple of tastes I'm not regretting my decision at all. This is incredible. Perfect combination of soft/creamy mouthfeel, juiciness, and bitter/dankness from the Simcoe. Arguably one of the best mouthfeels on an OH beer. This needs to make its way to cans.

 

Next week: Green Diamonds, DDH Forever Simcoe, and DDH Double Mosaic Dreams.

OH (unlike Finback) has gotten their releases down to perfection, with incredibly short wait times and quick service. Haven't been more happy to see my favorite NYC brewery thrive.

 

Was able to snag a case of ACE which I loved from last release. They had the collab on tap in the room next door and I wasn't real impressed. But the Mylar Bags and Nummy Nug Nug that was on tap...wowzers were they good.
