Migration Week event tonight at Darcy McGee's Sparks
Which Founders did they bring in? Hopefully they stay away from hops as they don't seem to know how to handle them. Wouldn't mind having Breakfast Stout, Imperial and a seasonal like Backwoods Bastard, or KBS
I imagine nobody would mind having those.
If I remember correctly, they had Centennial IPA, Dirty Bastard?, Porter, Backwoods, and a few others.
I love high gravity stouts in cans for some reason....
Dupont Bons Voeux coming in small bottles for the holidays and Old Rasputin as well, apparently. Nothing but good news!
Great if true!
On the upside, both are cellar worthy so, LCBO's habit of releasing months-old beer won't be a problem.
Did anyone else go to this? There was a good presence from the nerd/blogger/industry crowd, but I'm curious if anyone else went.
Dupont Bons Voeux sure it will not be as good as the big bottles, wacky.......
BtP released a IIPA that is pretty tasty; small growler is about the right size but nice wet hop and resin beer with some booziness and a nice dry/bitter finish.
Tooth and Nail are having their 1st anniversary party this Friday, starts at 3 I think. Hoping to stop in for a coupe of pints, maybe buy a bottle or two of their anniversary beer if its good on tap.
Lot's of Eerste bottles left today. Anyone try it yesterday?
Tooth and Nail just released an Imperial Oatmeal Stout with cocoa nibs and Happy Goat coffee today. Had it on tap in the pub, it's a bit sweet but really damn good.
I must have just missed you
Doh!! I was sitting at the bar from about 1-145.
Think they have any left? Wouldn't mind picking up a couple of cans on the way home...would make a nice Halloween walk around beer...
Not sure. They are very responsive to FB messages; drop 'em a line and ask, though I guess a bit late for Halloween (I had a flask of rye for the walk . They only release 350 cans as the bulk of the batch is aging in bourbon barrels, but there was a limit as to spread the love around.
That sounds really good!
Heads up, not on LCBO website but Avec les Bons Voeux, St Bernardus 6 pack and Gouden Carolus gift pack with chalice glass are out, saw a bunch at Richmond Road
Speaking of which, anyone seen Thor's Hammer in Ottawa anywhere?
It's out over here so you should see it soon if it's not already out.
No stock online, sigh...
As you said, they are showing up on shelves before they are getting listed it seems. My crystal ball says you'll be drinking one this weekend.
Tons at Bank and McLeod
Beer Geek Trivia will be making a return for December 5 at Brothers.
Anyone stop in at Millstreet to try their new RIS release?
Anyone tried Dominion City Sunsplit or BtP Juicy Dream? Thoughts?
Had the first batch of Juicy Dream. It was nice, but I can see why they wanted to come out with 2.0 not long after. Wasn't as juicy or "fluffy" as they were describing it. The new one, if better, should be quite good. Haven't had Sunsplit yet but also curious
Hoping to try Dream 2.0 - will report back.
If they are still around next Friday, I will be trying both. Here's hoping!
I had Sunsplit...Very enjoyable, 10000x better than 2Flags. They didn't list IBU, but I would assume it's low. My "complaint" would be that it could use a bit more bitterness in the end. It is a small batch production, and I was told that there is one more batch to be brewed this year.
Thanks. Yeah they told me it was looking good for the next batch to be ready by next Friday when I am stopping by. Fingers crossed!
So still found batch 2 of Juicy Dream to be a bit of an up and down experience - the fresh citrus explosion just didn't stay from nose to palate and finish; good but just not as consistent as aromatherapy, for me at least.
Millstreet should be getting some of the RIS in the next week or two but I stopped in yesterday and nothing yet. Ottawa is expecting about 21 kegs, should be on tap first at the brewpub, then some bottled up for distribution.
I'm not sure if they have any left but Stalwart Brewing in Carleton Place released their Dos Jefes Grapefruit-Vanilla IPA last week. Really unique beer but I'm still a little unsure about the smooth vanilla aftertaste it has.
Oh, and Dr Feelgood, their excellent IPA, is now available in growlers at the Landsdowne Park LCBO.
Dos Jefes was sold out yesterday.
That Dos Jefes sounds very interesting.
Hmmm that would be fun to try.
BtP released Novemberfest (dark lager) on Thursday last week. And Tooth & Nail is releasing some one off cans and things on cask/tap for their 12 days of Christmas (think they had a double IPA on the 1st, not sure of the rest of the schedule).
I think they also released a new IPA at their anniversary party Saturday (Business) but things were a little hazy from that awesome party! Anyone else go?
Blindside DIPA was really nice but you gotta be into the whole grapefruit craze.
