    But what is an acceptable alternative word as it applies to beer? This may be a unique word for use with beer. Here are synonyms: sickly, syrupy, saccharine, oversweet;
    sickening, nauseating;
    mawkish, sentimental, twee;
    informal: over the top, mushy, slushy, sloppy, gooey, cheesy, corny, cornball, sappy

    It's kinda like "often times". "Often" will do just fine. "That being said..." instead of "but" or "however" also bugs.

    This one drives me nuts just because the pure concept of it. Really, A beer is so offensive to you that you can't possibly drink it? After you spent money on it, possibly effort to obtain it, and you are going to physically pour it down the drain...

    Although most people are just using it as slang for something they dislike, "such a drainpour" when in fact they didn't really pour it out, but I dislike the term all around.

    I may not like a beer, but except for extreme circumstances, I don't pour a beer down the drain, and I don't leave a glass on the table with beer in it.

    Surprised no one brought up this dandy tweet (and set of replies) from Hill Farmstead on the topic -- see here. If you loved Hill from the Boston Magazine interview, you'll love this...

    Of course, elsewhere on the HF website, you'll see such purportedly loathed adjectives as balanced, complex, and drinkable. So,...yeah. As @drtth said, it's all well and good to lampoon an overused word, but unless you have an alternative, who cares?

    I agree that it used to be pretty good, but this was back before I drank 900+ different beers. I recently had it and was surprised how much it disappointed me compared to the first time.
