Some guy (not me) has posted some comparison pics vs the 525SS:

I was trying to decide between getting the new Perlicks or the (soon to be fixed?) Ventmatics. I think I'll go with the Perlicks. Though I prefer the logo on the 525's...I like the overall look of the 630's better.

Do you happen to know if the 525's will be discontinued?

    Yup, they are discontinuing them.

Less tilt on the handle, so that it's less likely that you knock someone out with the tap handle?

I have a few of the 525's and they seem to work fine, I think I've only had on leak/drip issue. But I guess that's enough to be a problem.

I like the new forward seal in the 630, that may work better. Also the 525 can be fairly tricky to reassemble, not hard, but not intuitive. The 630 looks more dummy proof.

I don't need any new taps, but I may give a 630 a spin just to try it.

Why does my OCD make me want two more 525's just so all my taps match once I'm done adding lines to my kegerator? Seriously considering an inferior product here. Grrrrrrrr.

I really like the look of the 630s and would hope that the change in angle would prevent that one last little drop you sometimes get from 525s from hitting the drip tray. Overall, I am happy with my 525s and don't think there's enough of an improvement in design to warrant buying all new faucets. I am also kind of OCD so I couldn't just get one to try out... I would have to replace everything!

That money is probably better spent elsewhere.

I'm not quite that OCD. I don't need my taps to match, if anything I'd like that it doesn't look uniform.

I only need the one, so I guess I'll have 2 525's and one 630.

I am the current guinea pig for the VentMatics. I am in contact with CHI and hoping to receive the new gaskets soon. I am using the original new version that shipped out with multiple issues. The new forward seal they sent over worked perfectly, so I am hopeful for the new gasket.

Taking a long time, but so far the fixes have worked. I really love the way these faucets pour. Communication from CHI is spotty at best but I will give them the benefit of the doubt with how many complaints and inquiries they are likely getting regarding these faucets.

Yeah, I really wanted the Ventmatics, but the whole debacle with the faucets, and with CHI's actions over at HBT have really put me off.

I'm not going to buy a faucet until April, so I guess the Vents are still in my radar...but they aren't the top choice right now.

I sincerely hope you don't have any more issues once this most recent fix goes through.

All I can tell you is don't buy cheap ones and keep track of where you got them from. (I didn't do either). I just got a Perlick 525 and was cleaning my old cheapo I've had for about 4 or 5 years and noticed what looked like a million gold flakes in the bottom of the pan I used to soak the disassembled parts. Think I will opt for SS ones (which ever brand) in the future.

I would avoid the headache for the time being if you want the new faucets in the next month or two and go with the Perlicks if they are not having any reported issues. As I said, I really like the pour on the faucet and I do like the idea of interchangabe spouts (I have not purchased any others yet). As it stands now, it is just frustrating that they put a product to market without proper testing. I wouldnt buy any of them for a few months from this point until all testing has been done and all issues completely resolved. If you still have any interest in the faucets, I can certainly keep you updated if/when the fixes happen.
