The only legit reason to not buy central waters stuff is because their year-round lineup is universally mediocre. Always has been puzzling to me.

This shit is all over now, the SLP stores have literally cases of it sitting around. No one wants to chance it. Can't blame them I suppose. Such a shame because the 1st hatch was sooo good

Frak, opened my 3rd one from the first batch/delivery to the TC area yesterday and although it poured fine it did start to taste tinny but just barely. Still very good and very drinkable but this compared to the one I had earlier last week went from a high 4's to low 4's now for me. Opening my last one tonight before my bowling league, see if the power of alkaline, coffee and bourbon can drive me to my first 300.

Definitely. Same thing happened to me, and it sounds like that what most people are experiencing. Some little bacteria beasties get in the bottle and it takes them a while to do their thing. I think the process is usually that they start to convert the sugars into acetic acid or other similar acids? Someone else can probably fill in the details on that better than I can. I'm no super-genius. Or are I?

A shame, indeed. I'd love to buy a few more 4pks, but hesitant to do so...

Yup, finished off mine from the first batch today. Had one last night and one today. Both were starting to have a slight off taste to them so I wasn't going to sit on them, I still stare at my last 2 from last year and sob. Last time I buy this beer, totally still going to seek BBBW and BBS though, those two are still drinking amazing from last and this year.

I just decided to crack a bottle of my latest 4pk, and it's definitely not quite right. :slight_frown:

    Damn-

Just opened another bottle. It's perfect. Let it warm up and breathe some thinking it was maybe too cold, still perfect. So glad my brother and I bought a case of this last week. Haven't had a bad bottle yet. I fancy myself a gambling man, so as long as its on the shelves, I'm buying it until I get one of these bottles that so many speak of.

This has been my experience as well. I haven't chanced any from the 2nd batch however, but all my 1st batch bombs are showtime.

Most breweries use cold pressed coffee which is far less acidic than conventionally brewed coffee.

Im a little surprised CW hasnt made any statement about this issue yet. Its obviously fairly widespread.

On another note, Johnson Bros/Artisnal, that carries Redband did reach out to me about the issues I have encountered with that beer and supplied me with some fresh stock. Very Nice gesture, although I dont believe it should be the distributors problem as breweries have an obligation to ensure their product will hold up even if not stored in the optimal conditions or sold by a certain date.

I see a LOT of comments about 2 batches....has anyone substantiated this? Or just a rumor?

That's a good question. Peruvian Morning arrived in the Twin Cities in two waves and the second distribution is being referred to as Batch 2. Not sure how many batches were brewed by Central Waters. I didn't notice reports of infection issues by MN BAs until after the second batch/wave/distribution became available.

I never bought any of the "batch 2" only the first go round. Tasted fantastic initially, my last 2 bottles started to get the metallicy taste and off flavors to them then I noticed this forum. Very sad, oh well I'll keep buying their other BA stuff but not PM anymore.

I bought 3 four packs at Casanova, which I believe was 1 week before MN got any. All are drinking... oh so good!

4/5 of my 12 PMs are contaminated thus far. I was hoping it was only one or two, but if an entire four pack is sour, something is off. I bought this four-pack recently at the Lakeview Binnys, if anyone else had a similar experience. The other one was bought about a month ago at the South Loop Binnys. Could mean this is batch #2 and it wasn't good.

And here the response I got from them. Cheers to a great and personable brewery!

    Timothy,
We appreciate your feedback, I apologize we haven't gotten back to you right away.
We are aware of some issues here on this years Peruvian Morning, and are working hard to do two things, understand what happened, then resolve the issue for those who purchased it.
We have an independent laboratory confirming our results with our own lab, and when we have that information, we will be able to take care of our fans more effectively.
Please understand, we will make this right by anyone who purchased one of these batches, but we need to verify our own results as the first step in working through this.
As such, it sounds like you purchased two four packs that were bad? Please verify how many you purchased you felt were bad, and a picture of what you have left with some form of identification in the photo to us, and we will immediately refund you for your purchase.
We take great pride in the quality of our beer, and our relationship with our customers. We sincerely hope we keep your business in the future, and we will do anything we are able to in order to resolve this.
Thank you again for your support of our brewery,
    Central Waters Brewing Company

Just got a response as well today. Said they would refund me even though I don't have the bottle of the infected one I had a few weeks back, though I did say I still have my receipt. They want me to open the remaining three and see if they are bad or not.

They said if I take a picture of the bottles with some form of I.D. they will send me a check. Glad I saved my empties. I'll most definitely be supporting them in the future.

I just sent mine yesterday. Took them about 2 or 3 weeks to respond to my initial inquiry about the bad PM. I would expect them to contact everyone a month or so out or maybe a check will just show up one day...?

They got back to me within a week or two saying to drink my remaining bottles and take a picture with my ID...I had unfortunately consumed the rest of mine and already recycled the bottles by the time they got back to me. I'll still buy CW stuff just now PM.

Last time around I sent the email 5/14/12 and received my refund check in early Feb of this year. Not the quickest turnaround.

Just opened one that I got in a trade, on a side note, I hope the BA that sent this to me hasn't read this thread or drank any of the bottles from the 4-pack he sent me. As soon as I opened the bottle, I knew something was off. It isn't terribly apparent when you smell and sip it, but I got an awful sour cherry and lactic flavor on the back end of my sip. As it warms up you can smell what seems to be brett on the nose, but I can't be certain. Either way, there's something bad with the batch.
