What has two thumbs & can be seen next to Rick drinking disgusting cucumber beer? :grinning:

Dang, would have tried to get tickets if I knew Couch would be attending; their glowing/fake untappd reviews have me intrigued.

Where will you be specifically? That's a factor. Brewery or bottle shop?

    1. Go to Church Brew Works.
    2. Don't listen to anyone who tells you NOT to go to Church Brew Works.

I can't explain it but that pisses me off far more than it should. I've basically already written them off as a result (unfair, I know). Just really rubs me the wrong way.

Have been impressed by Abjuration in the past and very curious to hear about Dancing Gnome.

Thanks for the Big Pour input. Kinda reaffirmed my thoughts that it wasn't something that was worth spending the money on. I have gotten pickier with my beer events over the last few years as they seem to have gone up in amount of them and down in the overall quality.

If you are staying downtown, I would suggest hitting Roundabout, Grist House and Draai Laag. You could probably hit all three within a couple hours since they are fairly close to each other. If you have more time, I would hit up Voodoo Homestead and Brew Gentlemen.

I tried a Dancing Gnome Oatmeal Stout at Beers of the Burgh in May. It was fair. Nothing great, nothing horrible. Agreed on Abjuration from what I had at Beers of the Burgh

Agree on Draai Laag and Roundabout if you are downtown, and I second the Voodoo & BG recommendations.

Visitors to the city usually are very impressed by this place...

No...but now that this name has been dropped, it's officially a Pittsburgh thread...

The atmosphere appeal wears off quickly and then you are left with the beer....

Don't go to Church Brew Works.

Agree with all of these^. Would add Fat Heads--not sure if you've had any of their offerings, but they've had some good stuff on recently.

The overall impact of the +/- seems to be a negative. If there was any remnants of doubt deep inside, it has left me.

Someone asked a few pages ago about the new Ballast Point Dead Ringer and Pumpkin. I just saw a few six packs of Dead Ringer at Giant Eagle Robinson. I had it on tap at Mad Mex the other night, and really enjoyed it.
They also had: Deschutes Not the Stoic ($24), Brooklyn Quinceratops, and only about 100 cases of Pumking left.

@barflybastard - MD Express now has the rest of the New Belgium lineup near the patio exit, not the sours though.

Church is a cool place for people to check out who have never been. I haven't been in a while but isn't the beer improving lately ?

Thanks. The guy last night kept telling me: we have all kinds of Belgium beers.

The sours are what I was after. :slight_frown:

So you didn't stock up on Snapshot or Fat Tire? Come on now, how are you going to be cool if you don't?
