The Jubel 2015 is sitting around in shelves? Which shelves? Any idea on price?

I enjoy seeing alpine on tap when I'm out and about. Bullfrog makes fun stuff. Hopefully new Belgium gives us a couple shelf sour options on a semi regular basis. We don't really have that now. As I said above, I get down with abyss too. Overall, I get what you're saying...quality isn't upgraded necessarily...I just like having options man.

hypothetically, would you pay $7.50 for a can of heady?

Options are great and all that but if all the new regular shelf offerings are no better and in a lot of cases not as good as what was already available then all those new options don't do any good.

Outside of Nelson, Alpine hops don't do anything for me and I've never seen anything else. I've only ever seen Edgar from Bullfrog but I enjoyed it though. I like Abyss as well but not enough to buy it at $22. NB sours will be nice to have. Hopefully they are priced accordingly and enough makes it here that they are available for more than 5 minutes on a Tuesday afternoon.

I think we are overlooking the average craft beer drinker. I'm sure @randylangford could back me up, but for every Abyss or Nelson or Eric's Ale or whatever else that gets sold in the city, there are 20 other people that are perfectly happy buying Black Butte and Fat Tire and other shelf six packs. And those people are the only reason we get to have Jubel and BA Hibernation "turding up our shelves". Breweries won't send their specialties here if their core brands don't get sold - see Goose Island.

@shuggy GEMD Shadyside has the NB sours that I'm willing to try, but Im skeevy and dont want to keep paying the equivelant of $8.50 for a 12oz pour of livingroom beer. I guess thats just my problem with bombers in general.

What livingroom beer do they have and what's the price?

I agree with you here. I like trying all the new stuff, but any time I'm in the market for a case, I almost always end up sticking with the usual suspects like bells, founders, fatheads, and victory.

I don't disagree with that at all. When I used that term I wasn't really intending it to be negative. It was more of my way of saying that those beers in particular seem to be hanging around a little.

I'm far too lazy to scroll through all 95 pages of the thread. Any kind people want to provide some good recommendations for beer bars in downtown Pittsburgh? Specifically, I'm staying at the Marriott City center. Thanks in advance.

Outside of @Preluderl finally finding an ipa he can handle I doubt much of the new stuff is a constant in anybody's rotation. Fat Tire is going to stake it's place like it does everywhere though.

Downtown isn't great, there is stuff to find and a lot of places will have decent tap lists but you'll be paying a price premium in an already moderately expensive draft beer city and depending on where you're coming from they might not have anything too exciting that you haven't seen before.

The last time I was in, The Commoner which is in the Hotel Monaco had local taps, but again downtown pricing. Might be a mile from your hotel.

The best recommendation I can think of if you're only looking for walking distance would be Sharp Edge Bistro on Penn Ave. should be about a half mile from your hotel.

If you're looking to use some public transit or grab a car/uber there are lots of places that won't take you more than 10 minutes to get to and will improve your options drastically.

Thank you kind sir. Being from Northern VA/DC, there's not a whole lot of differentiation between the markets given the lack of distance. You're definitely right on that point. I do appreciate the recommendations though, for sure.
