As do I. Let me know if you want to grab a beer one evening. I've only eaten there once, would like to eat a few more times before I form an opinion.

    Pig Iron

First visit tonight. Had the Pig Iron burger that was good albeit undercooked. A fried egg makes lots of things better but not quite to the level of bacon though which inexplicably isn't offered on any burger choice. Service was fine. Had an issue with being overcharged that was slowly rectified by what I'm guessing was a manager who screwed it up a second time before finally getting it right.

The keglets are one of the most reasonable buys in take home beer from a bar. Most offerings were either the same price or 50 cents more than a pint pour.

Idle Hands - Not much of a nose on it. Tasted just ok. After 4+ years Helltown still doesn't have their shit together.

Berry JuJu - Fruit was nice. That's about it. Not tart nor sour. Might as well get Bumbleberry for half the price or hit the grocery store for some Tropicana.

Victory Agave Abomination IPA - The mix of flavors just doesn't work together.

Victory Harvest and Hop Ranch - As good as they've ever been.

JuJu on second of two kegs this sunny morning; enough left to grab a growler at least. Both collabs still on--Smoldering Sour much better than the session, tart with a nice kick.

Voodoo Homestead no longer dog friendly? By the end of the year they'll stop filling growlers and will shoot children on sight.

    This isn't Mead Advocate.

Voodoo does 32oz growlers for $8 for most beers, $9 for pizza party and vandelay industries.
I was just talking about how it's been too long since my last hj.

It is from Pittsburgh, thus, like its local beer, sucks.

    Pig Iron:

    Taplist: A
    Cocktails: B+
    Service: B
    Atmosphere: B+
    Food: C
    Value: A

Biggest Gripes: Nachos came on a pan, which was lined with paper. So the cheese melts and you go to scoop it up and you get wads of paper on your chip. They also put the greens & tomato on a burger on the bottom, so your bottom bun disintegrates and you're sitting there eating your burger with a fork & knife like a French Canadian. I've never spent a second working in the service industry but that is bush league.

Barely 15 minutes from where I'm at now, I can probably see myself going there a few times a month if I don't get food poisoning some time.

The original giovanni's is the most accurate "pizza" I've had out here. Spak bro's is the best I've had.
The pizza game is tied for first in the city's struggles (along with well organized/maintained streets).
Feels like I'm in British Honduras sometimes.

The undercooked burger I consumed was definitely a roll of the dice.

New beer going on today at Roundabout - Red Belt to Cranberry, which is the Rusted Route aged in bourbon barrels with cranberries, brett, and Rodenbach yeast. It's super good.

I kid I kid, but how undercooked could a burger be honestly? Like not even cooked? Even cooked for 2 minutes on each side would be fine.

Just catching up on reading, so sorry for late reply, and this semi rant:

I can speak from experience, everything they have on that list they actually have "in the back", I've actually seen it.

The owner is, IMHO, the worst example of the "good ole boys network"

I was there for their BCBS release, they had a raffle for a couple bottles (2 or 5) of each, no prop or rare. If you won, regular was I think 20, the others were more, 22, 25?

Everythiing else went into the back, or they had a big wicker looking basket deal (only one) that had 2 of regular, coffee and bw, and a lot of other non BC goose stuff.

I was unlucky with the raffle, which is normal, so yea, I bought it, just to have 2 of each ($250).

Days after, another basket appears on their twitter, with 2 of everything that I got and all the other stuff, and 2 of regal. I stopped in and asked if they had more regal, was told yep, you need to buy the basket, the others in the back are "on hold". I explained I already bought the first basket on their release day, "yep, I remember you, the other regal is on hold, buy the other basket"

If you ask about the other things on the list, even if you are there in person, no matter how much you've spent there or whatever other reason, you will get told they don't have it, or you might get to buy 1 bottle of one thing. I don't know what the qualification is to be "in", but after all of this, I won't ever go back there, for any reason. I don't care if they are giving something away.

I don't mind someone saving stuff for friends or whatever, what grinds my gears is advertising something, and then not wanting to sell it.

Not only am I trying to make contacts and find good shops in Ohio and Philly / NJ that I will drive to (being single is great sometimes), I'm making plans to be in Chicago for next Black Friday just to never go back to Beermuda.

Maybe the next Barrel Room Collection Release is closer then we think?! Didn't they tease with a bunch of photos and stuff last time before they were all ready to go?
