U-Haul used to have a deal where if you spent ~$20 or so on shippers, shipping was free. Also try calling around to any wineries/wine boutique stores.

Doing a BiF that's to focus on locals. Picked up BG Ligne Claire, a 750ml growler of CPA, Voodoo Hoodoo bottles and a 32oz growler of Vandelay. Also throwing in a 500ml bottle of Geestlijke from Draai Laag. What else is around right now that I should include?

I don't really want to do any more growlers. Is Hop JuJu out yet? I can always do HeadHunter and I probably will if JuJu isn't around as of yet.

I've somehow not see Nugget Nectar yet either, but I've not looked very hard. Dude lives in Arizona so nothing regional here is going to be available for him.

Saw a poster on another trading forum offer up Bourbon Barrel Plead the Fifth for some Brew Gentlemen Mammoth. Really cool to see someone outside of the city / state looking for BG's beer.

Can anyone shed a little light on the Imbibe Northside event that has collective panties in a bunch? I'm reading War Streets Brewery already telling people they aren't welcome in their brewery before their doors are even opened while Allegheny City Brewing doing damage control and basically saying they had no control over the event, they were just pouring. What the hell happened?

It seems like the event got crushed by the rather massive amount of people showing up and they couldn't ticket it due to the fact none of the breweries are open and allegedly (originally said technically) cannot sell anything. On top of it, it looks like the War Streets dude went to the East End/Pizza Boy school of how to not handle criticisms and social media (even if you think you're right, probably best to not say anything).

It's cool that people in the city are so eager to come out for beer events, but it's also kind of weird that nearly 1,000 people came out to an event for breweries that are not even open yet. Seems like a good idea that was horribly mismanaged.

Very good point. If that's the case, the excuse making for the chaos of the event is total bullshit.

Yes, and I would assume after reading a few pages discussing it is their legal right to bring children anywhere if breastfeeding you will probably see more about this in the future events. I couldn't believe Yinzers take it so seriously.

That was a good read and unfortunate to see so much negativity towards infants. At least that war streets brewery had enough sense to stay out of that debate.

Tickets can be sold so long as proceeds don't go to a non licensed brewery or homebrewer. A lot of events sell tickets but claim the money will go towards food or charity like BUAC. Really any event in PA that has booze poured should have a "catering license" which is when an existing business farms out their liquor license to be used on another property. Off site events are kind of a grey area with the PLCB and even when asking them you can get two different answers.

Speaking of events: Homestead just announced on their Facebook page a Food Truck Rally

"We are pleased to announce The Fleet Awakens at Voodoo Homestead, the most epic food truck rally this city has ever seen. 19 of Pittsburgh's finest mobile kitchens will be joining us in Homestead (Click on event photo to see full list of participants). Nameless in August will be performing live music, and Voodoo Brewery will be serving up some tasty brews. There is no cost to admission, just bring yourself and your friends and come hungry! This event will be taking place rain or shine, so let's get ready to eat, drink, and be merry. May the force be with you!"

Wonder if that lady will ask about babies for this event? Says bring your friends, but are children your friends?!?

You can sort of tell that parking is an issue though if a regular knows down to the minute how long it takes to walk there from a parking lot that's that far away.

Anyone in the North Hills area have a six shipper or two? I only have twelves left and trying to drop a few boxes off tomorrow/Wednesday. I'd need to grab it tonight though because I'm driving to Harrisburg tomorrow morning.

Have any non homer reviews come in for BB GNVP? I want to know if it's actually good or not, since my views are clouded by being a homer

Was actually just looking through this today. Got straight 5s from a guy in NC with like 2k reviews and straight 4s from another in OH with a shitload of reviews. Another guy in Philly who was at the Games N'at share the night before the Grat release last year gave it a high score and he seems to trash every beer he drinks. Also has a fuckload of reviews.

So, it seems it's not just homerism.

One of my buddies on the west coast said he tried it at a share with a bunch of really nice bottles and it stood out. Many of the guys thought it was incredible.

As much as this probably does mean something, it kind of pisses me off that we would give a reviewer more credibility just because they seem hard to impress.

On another note, I'm trying to take my girlfriend out this Saturday evening for her birthday dinner, and she wants to go somewhere with a good beer list (and decent food too, obviously). She's a bit picky, so a place with the best tripe soup or the best beef tongue might not quite work

I might need to make a reservation soon, but I was just wondering if you guys have any suggestions.

    Thanks!

Can't go wrong with meat and potatoes. The pub burger might be up there for the best in the city. Decent beer list but good cocktails. Soba also had an alright beer menu to go with lots of nice small dishes to share. Nice atmosphere too. That fried kale doe....

You have tons of options right now actually. Might need to pick a style of food so we can understand how picky she is.

I set up a trade with this guy. He enjoyed it enough to send me a big box of Cantillon for another bottle. Dude seems pretty cool. I'm hooking him up with a bunch of nice extras to make up some of the $4$ difference.

It would probably be higher than #8 if everyone on here actually took the time to write a quick review of it.
Kind weird how the rating system works on here, but seems as if reviews are weighted more than if you just rate the beer without writing anything in the review section.
