Pittsburgh - New Beers & Local Breweries

It's Headhunter scaled up with Chinook and Citra added basically. A bit more tropical and def sweeter. I like Juju a lot but I have a tough time drinking more than 2 at the most. Not really into sweet tasting beers these days. All of Fat heads bigger IPA's come off almost Barley Wine sweet to me.

 

what ever happened to troy greer, and his brewery?
haven't seen him this way in a while now.

 

South Hills is getting a Caliente in the spring. Will be a nice addition; although I will have to finally figure what the hell all their hashtags mean now.

Wondering if pricing will inflate further as those grey market beerz flow from the east--over the rivers and through the tunnels, on their way to the South Hills? But still excited.

Edit: Looks like it's going in the location that housed Pub & Pizza (Castle Shannon Blvd.), 'bout a quarter mile from Hitchhiker. April! So, probably roll out some PCBW events at this location, which is easier than Uber from Bloomfield (for me).

 

Said he was quitting BA toward the tail end of 2015. No idea on the brewery front.

Hey! I'm newish to BA and was wondering if anyone on here has a bottle of Draai Laag La Pienture or two that they would be willing to part with? Or maybe knows someone who does. The brewery is out of it and told me that they are probably looking at 6-8 months until the next batch is bottled. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It was a limited bottling last time it came out and sold out in a matter of hours. I missed getting bottles by minutes. Not that this necessarily means nobody will have an extra bottle - just a heads up that it wasn't just sitting on shelves for months or anything.

 

It was in their mixed case that I bought back around Christmas. Only one though.

 

Speaking of Draai Laag, it's open again right? Any big changes to the taproom or just minor stuff?

I stopped out at Draai Laag last week. They completely renovated the inside of the tap room and added a few more taps. They had a few new brews on tap and said that they were going to be adding new brews weekly.

 

Awesome, Quicker for me to jump in and grab some Nelson and some more juju.

 

Really? My mixed case I bought had two. I gave one as an extra and have one left.

 

That's because Randy didn't draw a sweet sign for it.
