For years site members have been requesting that we put our Places on the map; literally. Today we've taken the first step by adding latitude and longitude fields, as well as geocoding our database of Places using Google's Geocoding API.

What does this mean for BA? Here are some examples:
    • Displaying a single Place, or group of Places, on custom Google Maps based on their location.
    • Place/Destination pages that use latitude and longitude; for more accurate and robust listings.
    • Ability to locate Places (and eventually Beers) based on your current or selected location.
    • Support for checkin features based on your current location; Beers, Places and Events.
    ... and so much more.

Some functionality will begin to appear within the BeerAdvocate mobile app, while other functionality won't rollout until the site redesign.

    We'll keep you posted.
