Here on vacation, but google and search have failed me. Any must visit spots around here?
Unfortunately, the entire Gatlinburg area is pretty much barren of good beer. You are only about 1.5 hours from Asheville so if time permits definitely go and hit up the Thirsty Monk and Bruisin Ales. I see you are from Clarksville, TN so I really don't think there is any beer in East TN you couldn't get at home.
Bummer! I stopped in at a package store and found a bottle of delirium tremens...bottled 04/11.
Yeah my friend is there now and called me last night and I couldn't give him an answer since nothing came up when I searched here and ratebeer besides the Gatlinburg Package store.
Checked out the smoky mountain brewpub in pigeon forge today, not impressed. Really poor atmosphere, there wasn't anyone dedicated to the bar. Had to wait untill someone came by to even get a sample. Then to buy a bottle to take home they had to open a locked case and carry it to the bar to check out.
Suttree's in Knoxville is the closest bar worth visiting. Nothing in bottle shops you couldn't get at home (except maybe some Craggie growlers at Bearden Beer Market in Knoxville).
P.S. If you're ever passing through Knoxville and want to stop and open a couple beers, BM me or Photekut.
I appriciate that! We are heading back through tomorrow but I have the family with me. Any reccomendations on best bottle shop? I convinced my wife that I need to stop, but I'm only allowed one store lol.
Gatlinburg has a great new beer shop called "Brew Ha Ha". It's on Parkway in the middle of town. Just opened recently and it has a great selection of beer. Here's more information on the store. I found some great stuff there. http://www.thebeerinme.com/tbimplugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?20390
Also had a supermarket just north of town "Food City" with a very nice selection of beer.
I also enjoy the Smokey Mountain Brewery. Nice selection of brew.
Hope this helps.
Thanks TBIM, I will be up there in April and will be sure to check them out.
