I have a free credit for a flight that I need to use in the next 5 months and would like to come visit Portland. I am from Chicago and do not really know anyone from Portland, so I was hoping I might find a kindly resident to put me up on their couch and show me some sights. There are a few breweries I want to visit like HotD, Cascade and Deschutes, but past that I am not very familiar with the local craft scene.

My plan would be to arrive on a Thursday or Friday and leave on Monday or Tuesday. The exact weekend is up in the air, but really any time before July should work well. If there is a beer festival or release worth attending, we could schedule it around that weekend.

I would be bringing a bag full of Chicago/Midwest goodies like FFF, Pipeworks, Half Acre, Revolution, Upland, Perennial, Prairie, CW, Dark Horse, etc. to share. This includes things like Dark Lord, KBS, Bourbon County variants, Upland lambics, and whatever else tickles your fancy. I view this as my way of repaying you for putting me up and would be happy to discuss specific beers. I can also toss you some money and will obviously cover all of my own expenses for the weekend.

If hanging out and drinking with me for a weekend sounds like a good time, please shoot me a message.

About Me: My name is Dan. I am a 25 year old guy from Chicago and I like beer enough to visit Portland for it. Feel free to ask me anything else.

My GF and I have hosted people in the past (paging @jmgrub) and have been lucky enough to find friendly folks in other parts of the country that have hosted us in our travels, but it's usually been people that we've traded with and therefore built up a modicum of trust. How do we know that you won't stab us in our sleep, pair our livers with Chianti and fava beans, and use our skins to make a new 3 piece suit?

The machete and taxidermy kit in my luggage got lost on the way up? See you in a few months for BfNA?

Haha, despite how lovely that suit would be, it's not my intention. I have a few regular trading partners but none of them are located in Portland. I was posting here before I tried couch-surfing/room-sharing sites because I want to spend my time with people who are legitimately interested in craft beer. Too many people "Love craft beer" and drink nothing but Rogue.

I know it's not quite the same, but I have a number of people who would vouch for me as a legit trader. I also run a poker BIF on here and Reddit.
