So that's what my past year has looked like all at once.

Anyone else re-use their Rare box to hold crackers at a tasting?

Blind Barleywine tasting a few weeks ago. KH was the unanimous winner. Other personal favorites were Arctic Devil and Gratitude.

Only bottle now shown is the BCS Rare, overall a descent tasting.

I'm hoping those drain pours were on account of an infection or simply old (Uber hasn't been bottled for a couple years). I'm surprised you don't care for Huma, I think it's a stellar American IPA. Aww Jeah came out great in my opinion. I would suggest you visit the brewpub in Bellaire at some point in time. I like to think you would find the beer more enjoyable when super fresh.

About this time last year...Rare took it for me...Hunahpu's for the other 3...KBS and Abyss were almost undrinkable...

Around October last year...Darkness ran away with this one with GI Vanilla a close 2nd...

About 2 months ago...Toss-up between Darkness and BCBS '09... CBS was such a letdown...I want my King Henry Back...

Working on another tasting in about a week or two...Will post pics...

    Cheers!

although I somewhat agree with you, you gotta give credit to shorts for trying new things. alot of their beer may just not be your thing, but give them some time. and yes, aww jeah is ALOT better then huma, its really nothing like it. the only beer I would compare aww jeah to is firestone's double jack, which is saying alot!

Oh I didn't say I don't applaud experimentation...but shorts seems to have a substantially higher bust rate than dfh....I put up with dfh bad beers because hits like bitches brew make up for misses like faithfull ale.....does shorts have a major hit outside maybe this awwwjeah?

Lots of people love Huma Lupa Licious, Freedom of '78, Soft Parade, and Anniversary Ale. I've sent some random bonuses to regular trading partners out in SoCal and they've been impressed with ControversiALE.

-Random "clean out" tasting, ranked from left to right. As you can tell there was no theme other than getting rid of stuff. While it did rank second from last, that Michelob pumkin beer wasn't bad. It was 3 years old too! The left hand hefe beside it was 4 years old and again, not bad, just not bettar than the ones in front of it. Full Sail "wreck the halls" bringing up the rear... horrible.

-Definitely not a classy photo, but was the biggest tasting I've had at my place. Most of the good stuff was at the bottom because it went first. There is an Event Horizon and a Hop Slam visable though, you'll have to take my word for it and ignore the PBRs that invaded later on.

Got together with a couple BA buddies on Saturday, kind of a informal impromptu tasting, birthday celebration, thirst quencher.

Some impressive bottle lineups, for sure. Would be nice to see more stouts and lambics, but eh.

Slightly odd though- only two sets of pictures actually have people in them. No toasts? No "holy hell I finally got to try this beer" reaction pictures? Very few "look at the whole setup we have" shots?

I'm assuming you gents do actually have people at these tastings, yeah? ;)

It was good, worlds better than the regular version, which I don't think is saying much. It wasn't overly sour but had a nice little kick to it. I got a few sips that left a funny aftertaste, but it didn't really take away from the beer too much.
