A few highlights from recent trades/hauls (mostly trades):
(That's a growler of Everett)
(That's a Bourbon Smoking Wood)(That's an '08 Behemoth and a '10 Serpent's Stout)(The Beast is '06 and Samael's is '07)Thanks to all my great traders! (valdieu, spdkilz, cduckett, shadesofgray, lokieman, inventsituations)
Added another 2 BA barleywines today for my upcoming tasting, big thanks to schlegelmeister and DenverBeerDrinker. Can't wait to torture myself with that GFK!!
Thanks to a vendor of mine at work who went to the release for me since I couldnt make it.
Thanks to my old outside sales partner who bought this because my daughters name is Abby.
Got this box today from my brother's trip out to Russian River last weekend
2 x Consecration
3 x Pliny
2 x Blind Pig
6 x Beatification
2 x Supplication
Via a Pliny trade.
Dude.... you started thee coolest thread ever.
This thread was a tradition in the old forum as well.
My apologies. Kudos to the OP.
No pics, but over the past week I've picked up:
'12 Stone IRS x 12
Knee Deep Simtra
Geueze Tilquin 750ml
'10 Abyss x 3
Bruery Saison de Lente
Why are those Dreadnaught bottles different? Is that how it usually is? I've only ever had one bottle, but that seems odd.
Awesome trades from:
nice midwest haul that landed this week:
Most recent trade. Excited to get to try this.
Nothing too crazy, all stocked up on daily drinkers. Happy to grab probably my last ever 6 pack of Bigfoot.
I wish I had done a before and after, because this was a complete mystery box from Aaron (leftmindedrighty). I sent him some Surly and asked for some local stuff in return, and he did a damn fine job!
- Fegley's Insidious
-Yards Olde Bartholomew
-Yards Tavern Ale
-Stoudt's Fat Dog
-Southampton Bier De Mars
-Voodoo White Magick of the Sun
-Voodoo 4 Seasons IPA
-Flying Fish Exit 8 (!!)
-Troegs Hop Back
-Troegs Pale Ale
-Troegs Nugget Nectar
-Troegs Java Head
-Old Forge Endless Summer
-DC Brau Corruption
TL;DR - Locals for locals trades are the fucking tits.
I shiver when I see hoppy FFF beers with wax on them.
I saw that when I was taking the pics and have no idea why the two different sizes....maybe they ran out of bottles and finished the batch off with others?
Is that BA Old Ruffian in a blue(Bud Light Platnium-esque) bottle??
A small, but rather nice haul...
No. I just upped the saturation a notch and there must have been some blue in the reflection. Maybe a real photographer can explain.
Finally get a chance at Masala Mama. Curious how 4 month old Hop Slam is tasting as well.
Added two more barleys today, including an awesome, obscure extra from boatshoes. The small bottle is a bourbon barrel barleywine from de Molen. Thanks again.
What makes it Imperial Black Phoenix? Is it barrel aged?
yes in bourbon barrels
Not a haul, but a recent tasting...
Tried a few new sours on tap this weekend that were awesome (I am new to sours). Who would have thought my favorite choices from that night would be at my local favorite stop. The Cuvee Des Jacobins is awesome!
4x Cuvee Des Jacobins Rouge
1x Rodenbach Grand Cru
1x Red Poppy
1x Framboise de Amorosa
1x Monk's Cafe Flemmish Red
Hmmm, which one of these does not belong...?
But seriously, which one did everyone enjoy the most?
It's hard to say because we had all those in one night. I don't even remember Abyss or Parabola that well because they were the last 2. I would say that the beer I was most surprised by was the Curmudgeon. It was excellent. Out of the stouts, either the CBS or Dark Lord were my favorite.
a modest, yet still wallet hungry haul lol. The Brau Bros Rye Wyne and Art of Darkness were steep, but whatever. The price of me being addicted to Belgium also. At least the Weihenstephaner was on sale!
And I got a 6 pack of Shorts Wheatwine last friday.
I'm not all that well-versed in sours, but the Des Jacobins is easily one of the best I've ever had.
Was even better when it was called Ommegang Rouge!
It was the best of the night, with the Rodenbach right behind it. I for some reason put it in my head they would be hard to find, but happen to find them the next day at my local shop. Awesome!! Even saw another Flemmish red to try there.
Yes it is.
Got this Saturday from a Minnesota bro. The growler is Masala Mamma.
A mix of graduation gifts and stuff I picked up the other day.
I would have edited my previous post, but I can't edit it for some reason. Anyway, I also got two bottles of Allagash Old HLT, but I forgot to include them in the pictures.
