After 409 pages, I thought it was time to lock down the previous two+ year-old thread, start another one and rotate it annually.

Feel like bragging about your most recent beer purchase or trade? Post a pic here. And in the spirt of past threads, please keep this thread on-topic (pics of recent buys or trades) and friendly.

    Cheers!

Today is supposedly the most depressing day of the year, but no chance of that here. Had a buddy get back from his long Florida vacation with a massive haul. The majority of it I haven't tried.

    Getting ready for stout season!

I'm really glad the Michigan Maple had a second round here in Boston, as last go I was unable to buy one, but still got to try some sharing with a few others. This time around I was presented with not just 1, but 2 bottles for my taking. I can't say no to that. If I could buy 2 BA Ten Fidys then I would probably do that too, though I usually only buy singles of beers unless I plan on aging and/or sharing some. I haven't had the Deth's Tar but I figure it can't be too bad, with mostly high ratings and being a Heaven Hill & Old Forester bourbon barrel aged imperial stout and all (in a box no less). I got one of these at a lower price for around $12, so I figured I will drink one soon and age one. I had a fresh Dinosmores for the first time that was really different and nice. I will like to see what age does to that in time. Cheers!

As a Chicagoan, I can say first hand that Deth's Tar is a good BA stout, but a really tough one to drink alone/finish, at least for me. Revolution's BA beers are very bourbon forward. Highly recommend sharing. I don't think you'll regret it. Cheers!

Aged mine for about 1.5 years. Glad I did as I drank it with a friend before rogue one.

Aging does help with the booziness for sure. But it's still going to keep a good portion of bourbon character. This one is definitely a sipper.

Good to know. I figured it could use some time to settle, and would definitely be tough to finish 22oz. of 13.5%. Usually if I'm drinking a big beer like that by myself it would take me all day to drink it, and I wait for a day off when I can crack it early and finish it late, lol. I intended on sharing at least one of those bad boys. After aging the second for a year or more I'll probably share that one too. Thanks for the advice. Cheers guys!

Yeah, it's 13.5, which is high, obviously, but really drinks more like 16 or 17. Cheers!

Latest haul. Been waiting since fall for the Founders Imperial Stout--my favorite (at least, non-barrel aged) imperial stout--and the other two I haven't had before. I've had all the Yeti variations except the normal one. Haha.
The Smuttynose collaboration with Stillwater Artisan Ales, Smuttwater, is a dry hopped Brett saison. I've actually never had a Brett saison before, so this should be fun.

Obviously, I didn't haul all of this out the door... but I was able to get enough to satisfy myself and a couple friends. I just thought this picture was worth the post. It's funny how a beer that used to be so hard to find, is now on pallets in a major grocery store aisle. I know Hopslam can be up for debate on even being able to hold an upper tier DIPA classification, but to each their own. I do really enjoy this stuff!

In my experience dinosmores does not age gracefully. The smores flavors just drop off and its an average imperial stout.

It's an average stout to begin with. S'Mores? What s'mores? I didn't taste any. Just a watery, slightly hoppy Imperial Stout.
