Still adjusting to hauls here in Montana vs what they were back home in Portland. All things considered, I don't think I faired too poorly at the local Safeway earlier..
Mixed bag snag at the local total wine. The two goose island sours are 2016 and 2017 they’re selling for under 10 bucks a piece.
Barleywine delivery from Holiday Wine Cellar

Loads of woody goodies and other treats came in the mail today! Majority are new to me, so I’ll have to meter how fast I try them. I try to write reviews, because face it, I need a beer journal.
@snaotheus dedtroyed my porch with beers from the Pacific Northwest…again
A huge thanks to @snaotheus for this box of PNW goodies.
He even threw in chocolate?
that and some homemade giardiniera - Hell of a guy, isn't he?
Sounds like it. Next time I’m in iso some pnw brews may just direct message that guy.
(although he destroyed someone else’s porch)
Ah, yes. "Fresh Ground Horseradish".
My favorite beer.
I can make more if you want to work out a trade.

Amazing box from @snaotheus arrived today! What a surprise!! Thanks again!!
Result of a coworker’s trip to Transient. I love the Uckleys.
Canuckley might be the best stout I’ve ever had, awesome haul!
I’ve been really impressed by Cushwa, so needed more! Also some Mikerphone, Anchorage and Nerdbrewing.
Canuckley does sound amazing!
Is it okay to ask if some of the American beers you get in Sweden are being sent from an individual or do you have pretty good distribution there? I’ve noticed over some months that you seem to get some pretty unique stuff. Cheers.
Can second this. The series is really great as a whole. Transient does an awesome job with their other stouts as well.
We have very good distribution here, much of it thanks to Mikkeller and Evil Twin being Scandinavian. There are quite a few damn good European webshops.
Had it at a festival and went back for two more!
A nice package of stouts arrived from PA today. @jzeilinger thank you very much Jeff. Odds of having a Sunday Morning as my closer night is very strong.

i tried the black ops
Purchased for about $5. I love the design of the can, pure black with red and silver accents. This is a small batch aged in Four Roses barrels. Never had Four Roses but we'll see what I'm in for. I'm a teacher and it's a snow day tomorrow so I'm cracking it open. Nice hiss from the can as I pour in anticipation. It looks like Coca-Cola coming straight out of the can. One inch heady foam bubbling up that leaves a light haze upon the surface of the beer for several minutes after. Can't wait for it to die down, I'm diving in. Now that is the most fiery electric bourbon scent I may have ever smelled from a beer. Plums, figs, raisins, leather also play a part in this overwhelming olfactory presence. It's a little bit sharp and stings the nose, and I most definitely like it. How about a sip? Tasting a bittersweet wash of chocolate, the sweetness of some cherry, a sting of coffee, the smoky hiss of tobacco, this almost tastes like a black and mild cigar. The taste of the bourbon isn't as prevalent as the smell of it. But there's something flat about it. Not the effervescence, but the beer seems a bit shallow, a bit muted. It's missing depth. It washes across the palate, but not deep into it. It does not quench at all. An oeniphile might call it dry. Mouthfeel is rather watery, moderate amount of bubble. Overall this beer tempts me with exquisite smells, like a woman's pheremone infused perfume, but it doesn't deliver in satisfaction, like a first date with her that will also be the last.
that uncle jacobs is great, you'll love it
You're gonna like that cuvee.
Purchased for $12 on a dark Friday afternoon. I was in the mood for some barleywine this weekend so i picked this up. I've had other Jackie O and they always seem to be high in quality. This is apparently a blend of 5 different barleywines aged in bourbon barrels. Cuvee means a blend of the best beers so hopefully this is good. I'm not usually a fan of blended beers, as i've never had one i thought stood out, but i'll give it a try. Poured out dark brown toffee colored, with a creamy half inch head that recedes into a thick ring around the glass. The nose on this is absolutely incredible. Very strong and robust, with a heavy malt smell, full of butterscotch and caramel, toffee. This is like a wonderful perfume, absolutely a 5 on the scent. Taste is a lot like the smell, although i'm repeating myself it's full of flavors of heavy malt, butterscotch, toffee, caramel. The bourbon is a nice delicate wash on the tail end of the swallow, enveloping the mouth in a slight but present heat. This taste really wraps itself around my palate. Mouthfeel is on the thicker side, with a delightful little sparkle from the carbonation. Overall, I'm impressed as this may be the best blended beer i've had. Another success from Jackie O, i'm beginning to really respect their brewery. not the absolute best barleywine i've had - that's reserved for insanity by weyerbacher. however, it's perfect warmer on this chilly december evening.
So glad can get these in California without Thievour( tavour)
Sublimely Self-Righteous! Sublimely Self-Righteous!
Man, I check the aisle for this every week, just in case lol - so yeah, that, plus another Jamaican Rum Edition of Duvel, Esme gin, and Perrier...
I see you like Maine Beer Company brews. I picked up four different bottles today. I could not believe the store had that many.
