    First time trader.

I was offered 1 14 Surly Darkness for 1 Funky Buddha Barrel-Aged Muy Bonita.

    Fair?

Pretty simple actually, if you want a Darkness I would say it is

I'd say that would be generous on his part considering '14 is barrel aged and he's taking a risk with BA Muy Bonita.

But agreed with @Beerisheaven, if you feel happy with the trade, then that's all that matters.

There have been reports of BA Muy Bonita being infected. If the other party is cool with taking the risk, then I'd say go ahead. But trading a potentially infected beer without the other person being aware would be very poor form.

@evilcatfish i knew. i'm fluent in sarcasm. if you think the bottles aren't infected, do you think it's due to mishandling of the bottles after purchase? a lot of people were leaving them in their cars and then getting back in line for another two.

Believe me, I know infection is always possible, but as you said mishandling could be another culprit. Take CBS for example, you don't hear much about infection but its obvious there is serious variation from bottle to bottle. I believe this is from handling/storage/trading issues

Sadly all it takes is one person to say something about possible infection and it takes off from there.

The bottle of BAMB I opened yesterday fit the description of a typical infection. I'm not saying it was infected but I'm saying it gushed everywhere immediately after opening, smelled sulphurous and tasted pretty damn disgusting. It's ashame, I have one other bottle and I typically like most FB beers.

The bottle of BA MB I had was definitely infected. It wasn't a gusher but the carbonation had risen to a level that made pouring it almost impossible, the smell was awful and the taste was clearly off.
