If you're like me, you're gonna hate yourself for not picking this up all the time. I'm guessing you have a Nov '13 bottle. I pick one up almost every time I got to Specs.

I don't have any new Noble King. I meant I'm going to try my Funky Gold tonight. We haven't gotten any JK bottles here in well over a year.

Does this make you feel better? Next week Baylor University (where I live, my wife is a residence hall director) has made it a fireable offense to have alcohol in the apartment. Now I can't even drink in my own home. Honestly I'm just venting.

If my memory serves correct, its not a new thing on campuses. The apartment dorms at TAMU held similar rules.. were they broken? Yes. Multiple times that led to body surfing a long board down the hallways and urinating in stairwells.

If you're a student it's not a new thing. My wife's position isn't a student position or anywhere near it. It's a several years of experience required masters degree level position. AKA grown ass person who isn't an irresponsible college student. She's 29 and I'm 32 next month. The "unspoken rule" before for alcohol was be discreet and don't share with students. For three years I did this. I had a mini fridge in my bedroom closet. Not a single student was ever aware. Then her supervisors come in without any explanation and tell her that higher ups and regents have decided that you will be fired if alcohol is found within your apartment. There are much smaller and much more conservative Christian schools that don't have this rule. Another dumb part about this is the faculty in residence (professors who live on campus) are still allowed to have alcohol. It's because they are paid more and as a higher up once told my wife, she's low on the totem pole, isn't important, and is very expendable. Fuck that guy. I'm tired of this school and their bullshit (goes way beyond this alcohol situation) and the huge amount of privileged students who think they're entitled to everything (totally different situations as well).

Mods: sorry for the thread jack, I'll stop.

Holy shit that's insane. When I was in school, as a student, I lived in a dry dorm for my first two years, annoying since I turned 21 early during sophomore year. The residence director in my building was a nice guy who offered to hold a few bottles of wine for me that I could use for cooking (not drinking) since I liked to cook a lot and it was legal for me to own.
I'm fairly confident that his offer prevented me from bringing in outside alcohol and breaking that rule. It was a win-win.

That said, can you get a locking mini-fridge?

WHAT? When I was at A&M, we could have alcohol in dorms, provided you were 21.

The entire campus is dry. Locking fridge wouldn't make a difference. We don't have an open door for students and RAs so it's not like they could just come in and get some at any point. A few regents and big donors found out that somewhere on campus someone had alcohol and the freaked out and threatened to pull funding. Baylor is just a business hiding behind Christian ideals, money is the bottom line. There's even a chance they'll force me to stop running my photography business from home since I'm making money and they aren't getting any.

Yeah I was speaking of the off campus dorms that were located just behind Northgate.

On the relevant side of things... Excited to pop my funky gold mosaic tonight!

I had one last night. It was good, but I think that the hops way overpower the sourness of the beer. I felt like this is a beer that doesn't know what it wants to be, it has too much going on.

I tried it last night as well. The hops are the main aspect of the beer, but I think that is probably what Chase was going for. I made sure to let it warm up plenty and the funk never really came through much. Still enjoyed it though, great Mosaic beer.

I personally don't age any beers that I like.... I like beers hot, fresh, and flavor forward, this beer I just thought was a mess and could maybe change into something good. I don't trade so I am not going to hype up another lackluster offering from these guys. I would like to try gold as I haven't had the base beer, but if it is anything like this one it would be a simple lemon zest water without the hops in the beginning... Doesn't sound great but still would buy one to try. I was just disappointed I bought 4 of these with high hopes then tasted it on draft right after, should have tried the other way around and I just wouldn't have purchased bottles.

Ya I don't understand people saying they may like this in a couple months. This beer is awesome and if I didn't think it was awesome I wouldn't think it would improve with age.

Got two. Gonna drink the second one next and buy a bunch more tomorrow. Love it!

So is the avatar ironic or just their only beer that isn't overhyped?

The tropical essence of the mosaic comes through much better it warms. It was definitely a beer I enjoyed more at the end of the bottle than my initial sips. Great beer. Wish it was cheaper and not so drinkable.
