Well I knew I was getting too cocky. Out of 10 years of brewing (off and on, mostly off due to the Army) I finally had a batch that just plain sucks. No infection. Not a bad recipe. Finally, lack of temp control reared her ugly head. I made a 8% English DIPA with a nice big starter of Wyeast 1882. All my #s hit perfectly except for the ambient temp of my downstairs storage area. Ambient temps were 72-75. Huge taste of fusel alcohol. I had pushed the envelope and gotten lucky until now. Now I'm pissed. I had big plans for this batch. Oh well, my friends don't know shit beer from good beer!

Just bottle it in 40s, that way it won't hurt as much when you have to pour one out for your homies :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry to hear. Has happened to us all. Best way to learn the importance of fermenting temps is letting one sit too warm. Good thing you have indiscriminate buddies who can help you get rid of it.

Perfect time to build a fermentation chamber!

Shrug it off. At least you know what happened. I've had two drainpours in my brewing career, one of which I'm still not sure exactly what I did wrong. Sounds like all you need is a fermentation chamber of some sort.

I was planning on brewing tomorrow but we still don't have power thanks to the storm in the DMV area. Was going to christen my new chest freezer/ferm chamber too!
