I turned 70 in June and have for years noted my body/brain's preference for days off from alcohol each week. So, having a Belgian ale a couple times a week, at most, is fine. For me it's truly about quality over quantity.

I want to look forward to having a nice beer and not feel like I HAVE to have alcohol on any particular day.

I have some over oaked homebrew that could put you to the test. The tannins are out of control.

Your post made me feel better. I don't dump beers often, but if it's mediocre half of it ends up down the drain and I move on. Why bother? Especially double IPAs from Trillium that burn like hell (ha).

His post would also imply that he's never had an obviously infected beer

At 60+ I have also found high abv beers while still very enjoyable, need to be limited, mostly, due to weight gain and I’m getting a bit more concerned with company driving home after a party.

so mostly I brew 6 abv or less beers most of the time their in the 5 abv range. Still work 2 jobs, log in the winter, which is physically demanding, and still, gotta watch the intake of anything with a calorie. Hahahhaahhha welcome to advanced age.

    just part of life.

You’re not alone. My wife and I often split 16 ounce cans. I wish more breweries used 12 ounce cans.
