So, I realized recently that I am holding on to more and more beers that I'd rather share than drink myself, and most of my drinking buddies don't live in the greater Providence area. That being said, are there are any folks interested in getting together for tastings? Whether it be monthly, every other month, etc. are there folks in the area interested in setting this up?

    Hey Rhode Island!

I'm visiting Little Rhody for Christmas and was wondering if anybody would be interested in organizing a bottle share/tasting. I found this post by thechrislife and we decided to give this another shot.

I'll be returning home on Friday, December 28, so I'm thinking Thursday night (12/27). Coming from Chicago, I can bring some big Midwest locals, for example Bourbon County Coffee, Bolt Cutter, Surly Syx, Abraxas, etc. My first thought was to setup an in-person trade, but on second thought I'd much rather share some great brews and meet new BA's.

The first steps toward making this happen is to find out if there's any genuine interest and discuss a location. I don't expect anybody to host, so maybe there's a BYOB spot we can haunt for a few hours.

    Cheers!

In response to the previous poster, I'd love to come, but I am not free next Thursday (or really any day next week for that matter). I hope you find some folks to split a few brews with though. If you do find yourself looking for a bar, hit Track 84 in Warwick (15 minutes south of Providence). Best taps in the state by a mile and the prices are excellent.

Now, in response to the original poster. I'd be into a tasting group, as would a friend of mine who doesn't really use this site much but is a big beer nut. Also, a fellow BA by the name of DAT would probably be interested. I can't speak for him of course, but he and I have talked about getting together for some tastings. We're all either in, or within 10 minutes of Providence.

I actually have been hoping to do a blind Quad tasting for a while. Maybe you'd like to be in on it? I have a bottle of Rocherfort 10, Chimay Blue, La Trappe and Westy. So far it's all trappist brews, but we could add some more in of course. I'll hit you up when we're doing it.

Also, my friend who doesn't use the site much as well as myself are homebrewers. We're still relatively new to it (we've been at it for a few years, but are still doing extract kits. I have done about 20 brews, he's done more than that). Folks are always welcome to come by when we brew.

Regardless of whether or not the Christmas-week tasting comes to fruition or not (hoping it still does, although outlook is not great right now), I'm definitely interested an the quad tasting, and hopefully doing them more often (once a month seems like a good idea).

Keep in touch, and hopefully we can hammer out the details and get this going.

i almost put up a post about a RI tasting group. I live in warren and I have a laundromat in pawtucket so providence area wouldnt be bad at all. I have done a ton of trading and have so much stuff. I have some good bombers that I feel guilty opening myself knowing I have to finish the whole thing and would rather spread the wealth. Got alot of good stouts and barleywines I want to open(Hunaphu, cognac sweet stout, darkness, darklord, moas, event horizon and more and more. Dont have many quads I do have some(one heady and boulevard BBQ). I would be down for whatever. Weekdays are tough for me, have a kid and a wife that works at night but I could always work something out. Anyways if your looking for more members or participants hit me up and hopefully we can put something together. I might have another person interested as well

I might be interested as well. I live in Cumberland.

I have Westvleteren 12, Abyss, and Hel & Verdoemenis ('10,'11 and '12) I could add. I may end up with some Pliny the Elder and Cigar City Jia Alai over the weekend.

I am on the other side of the state, in Charlestown. If there are others in South county that are interested, it would be nice to set something up down this way as well.
