Last Jan. Backfat and I went on a roadtrip to Jackie O's and had a blast with a bunch of awesome Ohio Ba's along the way...

We both want to do another road trip in late Jan or early Feb but we don't have any destinations in mind... This is where you come in!

We want some suggestions: where should we go? Anyone interested in settin up a tasting? Perhaps you have room for us to crash for a night?

    Come at me bros!

While I don't have a couch for you, there are plenty of Grand Rapids BA's who could put together a cool tasting.

Jan/Feb? I'd want to go someplace warm. How about Asheville NC?

Hmmmm... The idea of touring Michigan is very interesting...

I've never been to Founders, Dark Horse, or Jolly Pumpkin...

Now that I think about it, there really is no decision to make since the Winter Beer Festival is in Grand Rapids in February.

You should boogey on over to Pittsburgh (via lovely Warren, OH) for the Gratitude release (whenever it ends up happening), and bring ChadQuest with you. We can do some serious damage to my "cellar" while you're here.

I just got home from SC on Saturday... That might be too far for a 3-4 day roadtrip...

Take 41 north to the U.P., hit the Brickside in Copper Harbor, move your way south hitting Red Jacket Brewery in Calumet, KBC and Library in Houghton, Ore Dock and Black Rocks and Vierling in Marquette, then head south through the LP. If you head this way, I will have a place for you to stay.

I would suggest Cleveland... but not in January or February. Cleveland probably has the worst weather of anywhere in the lower 48 and those are usually the two worst months.

The metro detroit group has monthly tastings and we could coordinate the roadtrip around a Jan/Feb tasting. They're usually out by Mike's house.

I would say head up to Grand Rapids on a Thursday hitting Livery and Bell's on the way. Spend the night in GR hitting Founders, HopCat, Vivant, Stella's, etc...

Head out Friday morning and hit up Walldorff Brewing in Hastings when they open at 11. Spend an hour there and then head to Dark Horse for a late lunch (could stop in at Arcadia too). From there head over to Ann Arbor for the night with stops at JP, Ashley's, Blue Tractor, Arbor, Grizzley Peak. Check out Plum market for some beers to go.

Sat morning head over to Warren with stops at Kuhnhenn, Big Rock Chop House, Dragonmead (lots of options). Best stores in that area are Holiday Market, Cloverleaf, and Champanes. Metro Tasting that night out in Royal Oak/Berkley area.

Head back home Sunday with multiple options for stops along the way.

You missed Greenbush! It's easy to hit on the way to the Livery

I just got off the phone with Backfat and we were discussing a very similar strategy!
We will be both be fine skipping Bell's and Livery, but we think we are certainly down for a day at Founders, Dark Horse, Hopcat...
Then heading to Ann Arbor for a night there.

We are going to look into the GR winter beer fest and check our calendars....

Thanks for all the replies so far!
Any IL or IN Ba's care to join us on our trek? Send me a message and we can all discuss details!

Not to mention the infamous Detroit area strip clubs! That ought to seal the deal for AleWatcher

Pretty sure those of us on the east end of the lake could give you a run on the weather. I don't recommend a trip to Buffalo though as I'm pretty sure it would be underwhelming.

For my money, Windsor gives a much better aggressive lap dance.
