I guess they're in a futzing mood at Boston Beer Co. First the Remastered Boston Lager, now this.

    Beers in the pack:

deets on the Winter Lager. Doesn't sound too radical a difference. Will also be available in sixers and twelve packs.

    5.6% ABV, SRM 25, 22 IBUs

    Malt Varieties
Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend, Caramel 60, malted wheat, Carafa, and Munich 10

A decade or so ago, I used to get a 6er of that during the holidays. May need to revisit it again this year.

Merry Maker was a surprise, since I'm not a fan of ginger anything. I had it on a cold snowy day, and it reminded me of my mother making gingerbread Christmas cookies when I was a kid.

It’s a winter pack why stuff in the Sam 76? Even the Lager is so common to make this a no buy, half the beers aren’t worth the money.

Never had bottle shape scare me from a beer -- and I always liked the Bad Elf ales. Not show stoppers, but pretty nice English Ales.

The BL in the pack is the "new" recipe? I thought they were only trying that out in certain areas.

Even still, I'm with you -- adding BL (in any form) doesn't sell the pack for me.

I actually enjoy it in the variety packs, because it's a great beer but I don't ever want to buy a full sixer.

unclear. And I agree, this variety is underwhelming. No Fezzywig is a non-starter, really.

Hard hard pass...Old Fezziwig is the backbone of this Sampler and to leave it out is a weak move...I like the Holiday Porter and the revamped BL but the Sam 76 and White Ale can go jump in the lake...the "American" IPA has no business in a Winter Sampler... I'm betting this is the worst selling sampler in recent memory... if you're not going to include the Fezziwig in the sampler, either put it out in sixers like we've been asking for years or ditch the sampler and blame it on Covid...

    SMH....

I am so disappointed in Sam Adams recently. Old fezz is the best beer they make hands down. It was the only reason I bought the sampler pack previously, especially once they started adding 76. They have been downhill ever since they stopped making their Irish red a few years ago. So disappointing....... Sam Adams is rolling over in his grave

From what I have been hearing, Old Fezziwig will only be available at the Tap Houses in Boston & Cincinnati, although someone mentioned that it was available in a 4-pack of cans last year at the Tap House in Boston.

I’m happy their business is doing well with the seltzer and tea, but they really should be taking care of the consumers that made them by listening to us more, and giving us what we desire in beer.

No Old Fezzy? What is going on over at BBC? They better release it in some capacity nationally, wether in cans or bottles.. this is truly heartbreaking.

I do love Holiday Porter but not enough to buy a 12 pack of this Winter Pack. 2020 sucks

Bought a sixer today of winter lager. Disappointed. Isn't brighter or crisper as claimed. Just has less depth now. Watery even. I think this beer has gone through multiple recipe changes over the years and each is for the worse. This combined with removing Old Fezziwig from the winter mix pack and trying to mess with the BL recipe....not liking what Sam is doing recently on the beer front.

I agree! Been buying holiday pack every year since it came out for the sole purpose of having Fezziwig as my last beer on EVERY Christmas Eve! Bought multiple packs just to have more over the Holidays. This is devastating and will keep me from buying any Sam this season.

They have ruined a tradition spanning over a generation of celebrating the Holidays with Sam Adams packs that included Fezzi, Porter as main stays! I suffered through Cranberry lambic enough years to just have Fezziwig EVERY Christmas Eve since it came out. SHAME on you BBC.

It's 2020, so I'm not surprised bad things are happening. The remastering of Boston Lager. The omission of Fezziwig. Let's get through this year and hope Fezziwig, the OG Boston Lager, and a healthy population return to restore great beer!

The new recipe is bad. Sam Adam's has been directionless for half a decade now.

Remember the old days when winter lager was supposed to be a riff on a bock? Sad times indeed.

Got the winter pack earlier this week. Not as good as years past by any means, but the Porter is solid, Winter Lager is solid (as long as you aren't comparing it to a traditional bock), the American IPA is solid (def WC but not bad), and BL is always solid.

No, not anything I'd call stores to seek out, but it's not piss either. Sam 76 shouldn't be in there, but replace that beer with Fezzi or the Black Lager or something and it's a good, seasonal mixed pack from a brewery that isn't looking to draw in the craftiest beer nerds out there.

At the time when it was first brewed, it was probably the closest American made version of a lambic there was  . I remember drinking it when I was 13 and enjoying it because it didn’t taste too much like beer.
