Well, it wouldn't be a Sam Adams variety pack without an underwhelming wheat beer. It's practically a tradition at this point. I'm hoping it gets voted out in the next phase. Ideally, I'd like the Scotch Ale to make it along with one of the two remaining dark brews.

They should just do a ton of variety 12 packs with all of them mixed. Cause it isn't right that all these great sounding ones are not around and cold snap is.

That beer was great. Wasn't it only available in four packs? I remember thinking that was odd, since that wasn't a common format for them.

It was probably considered too much of a specialty release to be mixed in with their more standard varieties.

Yup 4pks. I wonder if I would even like it now? It was special back in the day.

Just got an email from Sam Adams. Here are the 4 that made it so far. No surprise to see the Black Lager.
I cant remember for sure what the fourth one I ended up voting for was, but I do know it wasnt the hefe. Kind of disappointed there. Yuengling already makes a great one for $6/6 if that is what I am looking for. Oh well, 3 of 4 aint bad. Much more disappointed that these will only be available in variety packs. Booooooo!

They can bring back any of those four permanently if it meant losing Cold Snap.

What else will they put in the variety pack I'm left wondering? I don't want to buy a pack with 6 beers I don't want to (hopefully) get to have the Scotch Ale and Black Lager again.

They should just do these 4 plus Boston Lager (per normal)...

I'd like to see a 12pk with 3 each of the 4 finalists. It actually is a nice mix of styles.

I think that Black & Brew will be one of the two winners. That beer is actually really solid. I'd guess the Black Lager will be the other winner, with the Scotch Ale perhaps able to sneak in. I don't think the Hefeweizen stands a chance.

Where this is set to release in January, the Hefe wouldn't be the best choice. I tend to shy away from those types of beers in the throes of winter. Give me the Scotch Ale and Black and Brew.

well, seeing as I was too young or too into whatever rotgut ghetto shit I could get my just-graduated hands on to experience pretty much all of these in the past, I'm curious about all of them.

Black & Brew if I had to pick one of those, but I actually miss the Chocolate Bock. It used to come in the winter variety packs but didn't see it this year.

I just received an email today regarding the final vote. Starting Aug 3, you can vote among the final 4 (coffee, black lager, hefe, scotch), and the winner will be in the variety pack in Jan.

I am pretty disappointed in the process (not the ones that advanced). I thought they were going to release the final 4 in a variety pack, and bring the winner back into the rotation. Kind of hard to vote on ones I never had (hence my take on the process). Looks like I am going with Black and Brew.

Brown ale was the clear choice for me, it was true to the style and better IMO than the four choices.

I cant remember my 4th choice now, but Black Lager, Coffee Stout, and Scotch were the others. I would like to think I went with the brown. I like under represented styles as much as anything else, and they usually make very solid versions.

I'm still in this for the Scotch Ale. Has everyone else lost interest? I suppose the styles in the final four probably aren't amassing a lot of enthusiasm.

This is a no-brainer for me. I can get my Scotch Ale fix with Founders. Sam Adams historically has brewed terrible wheat beers. And I can get my coffee stout fix anywhere.

They made an excellent Schwarzbier in Black Lager and this style is woefully ignored. A nice sessionable German style that I would like to see in a mix pack.

I am looking forward to trying these. As you know I am not the biggest fan. I wish they would release them all in a taster pack but two is good . . . for now. I can live without scotch ale, coffee stout, mighty oak ale, and pale ale. Put the remaining twelve in a sampler for us late commers please =)

Take out the black lager and the hefe
Put in honey porter and cranberry lambic

That would be a Sam Adams mixed 12er that I might actually buy
