So after spending an Hour and a half with the little one outside for beggars night(Iowa is weird) in 30 degree whether I decided to break my no drinking during the week rule and warm up with the mystery beer sent by @larryi86. The following are some pre reveal tasting notes:

Pour: murky Brown, not a tone of stickage to the glass. Held to light reveals reddish brown hue. Half finger head on hard pour instantly disappeared.

Smell Cold(20 mins out of fridge): french oak, a bit of funk(almost like a sour). American Barleywine?

Smell Warmer: getting a bit of Raisin, some fig, still a little funk, faint toffee and caramel

Taste: a bit watery, not as heavy as the abv would suggest. Not overly sweet. Slight molasis. Glides over pallet but hit on back end with a fucel alchol burn.

Guess: American Barleywine(doesnt have the sweetness for English) aged in Red Wine Barrels(where I think I am getting the funk

In all of the excitement I forgot about the most thoughtful part of volley #2 from @Snrubnivek - the dog toys!







Kevin being the genius that he is included dog toys in each box, though most of them were disguised as noise makers. Well done @Snrubnivek, my dog and wife are won over (and who could blame you if you can't gain the cats' favor?).

Pretty close with the details, I think once you see what it is the flavors will fall into place.

Its soooo weird!!...its the day before Halloween and only for 2hrs....i remember in MN being out from about 4-5pm to whenever people stopped leaving candy out or yelled at you....we used to carry pillow cases around and nearly filled them!!!

On the bright side I found out I suck at identifying rum Barrel

Did identify some of the other flavors after searching the description of the brew on UnTapped. Cant say Strong Ale is a style I have had a ton of.....but a fun one to explore for this.....thank you @larryi86 for the opportunity to try this brew!!!

Blind beer #2 from @Snrubnivek



Pours super dark, tan foam dissipates quickly to collar of fine bubbles. Cloudy.

Nose is coconut, cinnamon, vanilla.

Taste is vanilla, cinnamon. I'm getting some barrel-like heat and slight woodiness. I swear I'm getting a berry note too but sometimes that comes through with barrels for me. Also there is some dark chocolate bitterness that reminds me of some cocoa beers.

Mouthfeel is not totally creamy but pretty thick. There's more carb than I would expect based on the other attributes.

My guess is a barrel aged vanilla cinnamon stout.

 

Dude. Got a baby sister in Pa. Drank my fair share of Bud there. Almost all Bud and bourbon. Left many a brain celll there. My point is. Fuck, I have no idea.
