Now isn't that just like a bunch of beer geeks that while we can still enjoy a perfectly fine one-off we are already pining for the next one.
Having said that, something rye sure sounds good.

Any other word about this? Seasonal? One off?

Love Schells and rye beers. If its anywhere near as tasty and Burton Ale I'll cream.

Year-round is what I've heard, as a replacement for Hopfenmalz.

Sounds like a beer with rye malt in it to me.

You're right. But I prefer to call them by their German name: Smaragd

Ha, Smaragd Roggen just doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well. Too French sounding.

What? I thought I read (on BeerPlus.com or someplace) that it was a collaboration brew with that chef dude from New Orleans.

I thought it was an "inside joke" reference to Teena Marie's concept album from 1986...

Sorry, not familiar with her. (Was that her mother on The Dick Van Dyke Show- black bow in her hair, etc? No, that was Rose Marie. Or is that Elvis' kid?)

But, since we're on the topic- I'm colorblind (that's why I turned down that electrical apprentice offer) so my opinion might be off, but shouldn't a beer labeled "Emerald" be more "red" in color?

Maybe I am missing the joke or sarcasm but Emeralds are Green and Rubies are Red..
