Seattle Breweries - Reco

Seapine, Big Time, Georgetown, and Pike would be my suggestions, for varying reasons.

 

Maybe Cloudburst and Holy Mountain.

Walking only or is Uber or similar an option?

 

Big Time is nowhere near downtown.

 

But, that 2 buck light rail ride will drop you very close.

 

Light rail right now sounds like no fun.

 

It's a mile walk to Big Time from the light rail stop at Husky Stadium. Just sayin...it's easy but it's not like it's around the corner.

 

I've ridden the light rail from Husky Stadium to downtown three times since quarantine and each time I had an entire car to myself. Not too bad.

 

It's pretty clear who the non-resident is in this thread.

 

There will be a light rail station within slight minutes of Big Time, but unfortunately not until next year, when the north extension is opened.

 

What area are you staying in?

 

I make the three mile walk from my place to downtown Bham on the regular, so 1 mile is near to me. Shrug. Everyone's mileage will vary.

 

I walk 7-10 miles everyday. Hell, the times I've taken the light rail from Husky Stadium during quarantine, I walked there from house about 3.5 miles away. Agreed, mileage will vary.

 

Cloudburst downtown location is to-go only right now, as far as I know. Holy Mountain has a reservation system and is definitely an Uber/Lyft ride.

Fremont is doable, both via public transit and Lyft again.

 

I know that @chitowntink was looking for breweries, but if you're at Fremont... The Masonry is worth a stop.

If you do make it down to Seapine as @BBThunderbolt suggests, Machine House is worth a stop.

That's right... "what are the best downtown breweries" and you get two that aren't downtown.

Old Stove is downtown and if you're strictly doing downtown.. it should on your list with Cloudburst.

 

I only visited Old Stove once, maybe in their first year of operation, and I was neither impressed nor disappointed, just seemed middle of the road. I have no specific recollections to support that, though. Should I revisit with an open mind? Sometimes breweries don't really figure things out for a couple years. I had the same impression of Fremont when they were tiny and new, and look what happened to them.

 

Nope, that's exactly right. If limiting to downtown proper, this should be on the list, but if anyone has flexibility and can make it out of the tourist pit... it'd drop off quickly.

im slacking on that.

But! I live in Green Lake! Under normal conditions I’d say Latona Pub, but they’re not open regular hours during the pandemic. And sadly we lost Toronado and Burgundian in the last year. The Shambles is wonderful and open. Uber Tavern is nearby, there’s also Ridgewood Bottle and Tap up on Phinney Ridge. Ravenna Brewing and Big Time are both going strong. I’d also recommend Burke Gilman Brewing.

 

Also over in the GL area, and I'd add Duck Island Ale House to the list as a decent taplist and tasty fried chicken.
