I know this beer is not thought of too highly on here, and I have to admit I've never had it either. I've heard person after person tell me it was a bad beer so I've avoided it.

So now with the Michigan Brewing Co closing and Badass looking for another brewer, what are the odds of it getting tweaked and maybe becoming something better.

Maybe Wolverine could do it? Id assume at the very least Kid Rock would want to leave it as a Lager. Of course I'm also under the impression that he likes it the way it is currently and doesn't want it to change. So on that note who do you get to brew it then? I would assume a lot of brewers wouldn't want to brew something that most people out there think is basically terrible.

They're selling a catchy (to them) name.... the chance of it being made any better are slim.

I picked up a six-pack as a novelty when I was in Michigan (picked up 5 cases of Short's, and a single sixer of BadAss) for a 4th of July party last year.

It was really bad.... and my bud-light drinking buddy thought it was delicious, and wanted to know where he could get it, but he's certainly the target demographic.

There is at least one contract-only brewer in Michigan so it could end up there if a brewery name is not important. Everyone else may have capacity issues, even if they wanted to associate with Kid Rock's product.

The beers dont get really good ratings. Thats usually a good judge of the beer quality / a research tool.

Beer is horrible. I hope no one wants to brew it, and Pictured Rocks burns all their Kid Rock billboards! Gag gag barf.

It will not get tweaked. It is unfortunately a "winning" formula. When the beer was being developed, many examples were brewed, including a Czech Pils, a Helles, and other light styles...Kid Rock kept insisting on "lifhter, lighter" until it became what it is...

Yes, that was the case and some of the test batches were pretty good to style. I believe Kid Rock wanted a clone of Coors Light, so it was his decision. He also picked a Michigan brewery over two other out of state finalists so you have to respect him for that. I wish there was another brewery in MI that could brew the beer but I just do not see one with the capacity and interest. I don't like the beer but I hate to see it go out of state.

    What about Atwater?

After his decision to perform at the Republican convention, I don't think any Michiganders can really respect him for anything. What a whore.

From what I understand, Atwater is the #1 spot right now to take over the contract. As for the formula, Kid Rock said "Brew me a PBR clone" and that's pretty much what they did. I'd rather drink Bad Ass than Bud, Miller, etc. personally.

I liked it. I thought it was a good clean light lager.

Since it was only contract brew, I am not sure why they would tweak the recipe. They may have to tweak the recipe to end up with the same taste when brewed at a different location. Beers like that rely on consistency in taste for sales, and it sells even if most beer advocates do not like it.

Atwater would like it, but they can't make enough of their own beer.
Fyi, most people in the beer business lean conservative...

I guess my issue is more that Romney said that the auto cos. should be allowed to go bankrupt. For a guy who professes to love MI as much as he does, it seems fairly ridiculous that Kid would agree to schlep for someone that said that.

Whatever..it's terrible beer anyway. The fact that it was made as yet another way for Kid to make money shouldn't surprise me. He'll clearly do anything for cash at this point.

I think we're getting way off point but Kid Rock does alot for Michigan. He's one of the few mainstream artists that try to give our great state as much focus as possible.

Ill refrain from aying anything so as to not have this go even farther off topic, but...

I guess I never did think about capacity. Then again if it actually doe sell that well couldn't someone take it on and kinda us it as a springboard for other things. Problem with that is that kind of a cart before the horse thing I suppose. Then what would probably end up happening is whoever takes it spends all their time making that.
