Saturday is always the most packed for GA. At least it has been the last 4 years of Shelton Festival's. Still always tons of great beer.

I understand, but decent beer bars typically have events in conjunction with this event being in town. At least that’s been the case in Atlanta, Louisville & TB.

According to Shelton Brothers: "They'll be a bunch of events coinciding with The Festival, we hope to release a schedule later this week."

With many dozens of beer focused bars and eateries in the Denver area there are bound to be some events happening.

Just in case the ticket cost wasn't rough enough, Goed Zuur will clean out your wallet without hesitation or remorse.

CS Barrel Room has a tasting with JVR and a bunch of rare Cantillon, tickets sold out immediately upon me finding this out.

^^^ that’s hilarious. Straight custy’n Americans, which is literally all I saw at the brewery.. not sure Belgians even care about their beers.

100% capitalizing on the future dick swing. Basically $50 for the beer and $100 so you can humble brag and tell stories that start with, "well, when I was chatting with JVR about that, he told me..."

    Seriously!
We only went when we were in Brussels so that my homies that are into their stuff wouldn’t get mad at us for skipping it lol
Many, many more beer experiences over there that are more my style.. to each they own though.

At the fest what IPAs/APAs are you most excited to try?
Monkish, Grimm, Trillium, Burial, 18th Street, Tired Hands?

Going through the list of beers being poured it seems to lean pretty heavily on wild/sour and imperial stouts, not a ton of hoppy offerings that I can see.

I believe they are bringing Coconut Medianoche plus an unnamed Medianoche that could be anything.

I assume most people noticed Tired Hands beers are an accidental copy of Thin Man. So interested to find out what TH is actually bringing. Also asked the Weldwerks beertenders what they are bringing but they do not know or are not saying.

Lol weird since they listed them a few days ago in the Porchdrinking article, but to save everyone the clicks they apparently don't wanna make:

Hop the Mainsail (Moonraker DIPA Collab)
    Friday: 2018 Coconut Medianoche
Saturday: 2018 WeldWerks Invitational Festival Medianoche
    VIP **2018 Medianoche: Brewer's Select**

Yep. Would be surprised if Porch Drinking posted that without knowing. But beertenders still would not confirm. Probably just don't know...

Right. The last Medianoche is the one that is still TBD. I don't know if they are making a special keg or just grabbing something they have stashed away. Should be good either way.

Negative Ghost Rider, Medianoche Brewer's Select is the beer, that's not a placeholder. It was poured at Denver Rare Beer last month.

    AH gotcha.
I'm looking at Sahtipaja and Mjördhamnen for meads.
Sahtipaja is bringing a mead on Friday made from carrots, orange, and vanilla.
Mjördhamnen is bringing a lingonberry mead, among others.

Also don't sleep on Cold Hand Winery, they are bringing some interesting stuff in the same vein including a concentrated apple liqueur and a black currant wine. I don't know much about the ciders available.

Could be related to the zillions of other BA and adjunct BA stouts around it, but the Brewers Select wasn't doing it for me at Rare. There was a weird harshness in the finish. I guess it might have mellowed in the last 4 weeks, though.

I def get that. I didn't love the Weldfest Invitational Variant either. Regular Noche is just perfect as-is and the coconut this year is the best BA coconut stout I've ever had, so why mess with perfection?

  38. Domingo

    Domingo Poo-Bah (2,235) Apr 23, 2005 Colorado

Even though I want to roll my eyes at the idea, I think the Peanut Butter Cup variation might be the best pastry stout I've ever had. Normal 'ol Noche is up there for best BA stouts, too.
Some of the others I don't really love, but Brewers Select has been the only one I straight up didn't care for.

Small discrepancy I discovered. The porch Drinking list has Thin Man and no Tired Hands.
The Shelton List has Thin Man AND Tired Hands with the same beers (Thin Man's beers).

Either Tired Hands isn't coming or they don't have the beers listed. I can't check untappd at the moment.

Also the 3F beers are a little different between the two lists. Not that it matters much.
