    Hi all,

Wife and I are visiting belgium in a few months and its the first stop on the trip. I dont really want to carry around cases of beer with me the entire trip since we'll have 10 more days of traveling mutli cities. Has anyone shipped to themselves from europe before? It seems like (from other threads), people ship USPS, but who would I use to ship from belgium/paris to the US?

Any pointers about shipping from europe to US are appreciated

    Thanks,

This isn't a helpful post per se what you're asking for, but here is a different idea- are you flying in and out of one airport i.e. round-trip flight? Or is it an open-jaw style trip where you're flying into Belgium and flying out of Italy or wherever you end your trip?

If its the former, maybe a hotel or someplace will hold onto your box for you until you come back. Last time I was in Europe, an European BA mailed me a box of Westy to a hotel like a week before I got there (this hotel was at the end of my trip), and they held onto it for me until I got there and checked in (I OK'd it with them first), and of course I ended up checking about 2 cases worth of beer onto the plane in our luggage at no additional cost. You could also store the beer in a train station locker as you go along if you are traveling by train and will be back at the train station again in a few days to go to the next destination.

An arrangement like this might be a better alternative than paying a few hundred bucks in shipping your beer home. Plus you are just starting your vacation and bubblewrapping and packing a couple cases of beer doesn't sound like the greatest way to spend a holiday.

    Cheers,
    Steve

You can use BPost but it's going to cost you more than your beer is worth. I'd do what Stevedore said.

I just shipped a box from Belgium to myself via Belgiuminabox. I met up with the business owner when I was making a stop in Antwerp and he helped me out. Cost $100, which is the same price as an extra checked bag on United, but I didn't have to lug around all that additional beer on trains and such.

Were you able to fill the box with your own beers?

    Thanks

I was, but I bought a couple bottles from his stock to be polite.

Anyone know of a shop in Brussels that will ship to the US?

FWIW, this is probably a lot cheaper than what you'd pay as an individual walking into the post office. We shipped a box of (not beer) home from Spain a couple weeks ago and it was over 90 euros for a 14kg box.

I believe Bier Planet ships. I think they did when I was there.
