Already March and no Short's thread?
Time to remedy that! Let's start with currently available variety packs:

IPA AWESOME: Short's producing an IPA variety pack? How weird! Anyway, this one includes Big and Lil Huma, Space Rock, and a new Hazy IPA Nowadaze. Available through the end of March.

TRIED AND TRUE: Feeling like having a little bit of each of the flagships? This near-throwback to Short's first variety pack includes Huma, Local's, Bellaire Brown, and Soft Parade. This one's been out there a while and Short's is still plugging it (and they're producing all these brews anyway) it may be around a while.

    How about seasonals?

Mule Beer is on its way out, and Psychedelic Cat Grass is in!

PCG was supposed to be just February, but it feels like it got a late release, and it's on all the shelves around me. No word yet on the next seasonal.

    LIMITED RELEASES

Here's the map for first quarter 2022:

I still see some Uber Goober and $plurge on the shelves, plus in the last month we've gotten:

GOOD HUMANS: One of my three favorite browns from Short's (along with Bellaire and Woodmaster), this tasty dry hopped imperial brown itches the nutty malty yearning with just a touch of hoppiness.

DOUBLE SOFT PARADE: Just destroyed a six of this and need to go back for a couple more packs. The original high-octane formula that graced Short's taps in the early days and was one of the brews that had me falling in love with the funky little pub in the first place. Plus, if you mix it half-and-half with Uber Goober, you get a Super PB&J Stout. Heck yeah.

SYNAPHELOUS PINKFLOYDI: This tart cherry-lemonade inspired brew is up next. With the warming weather - hopefully - coming, this will be a nice refresher.

Also, I just received and email today from Short's regarding the Anni Party. From a recent pic uploaded to their FB page, it looks like it's underway:

According to the email, the party will be Saturday, April 30th. No details on tap list yet. If you won a VIP pack in 2020 and didn't cash it in, they're now honoring it. I'll be there for my first go around, and after waiting two years, I'm pretty excited.

Hopefully they'll have an announcement soon with pricing, tap list, and any entertainment and food options. See any of you BAs who are going then!

Good thing I just posted about the first quarter releases, just in time FOR the SECOND QUARTER LIMITED RELEASE SCHEDULE.

This is, without a doubt, the most insane three months of releases I've seen.

Margarita IPA: I swear I saw a label approval for this one a while ago.

Gitchy Gitchy Ooh Lala: loved this one when it was released at the pub near five years ago. Absolutely a refresher.

Nicie: Nicie has a lot of fans out there. I am not one. But since I can't say something Nicie, I won't say anything at all.

Pure Michigan Summer IPA: Looks like we get another seasonal themed Pure Michigan ale. Just need a Pure Michigan Winter Warmer and we have the complete set.

Now, that looks pretty decent to me but here's where it gets insane:

Soft Parade Shandy: Oh, how did I stock up on this one when it was in 12 packs.

Sticky Icky Icky: The classic is back again. Always a winner.

Anni Ale 18: HELL YEAH THEY BROUGHT BACK THE BLOOD ORANGE WHEATWINE.

Dessert Island: OK, are you screwheads sitting down? Yeah? Cause we're getting SHORT'S CAKE, KEY LIME PIE, AND PEACHES AND CREAM IN A VARIETY PACK.

The next three months are going to be ridiculous for Short's releases!

Hey thanks for starting this thread, been missing it big time! They're starting out pretty strong IMO this year, surely that desert island pack is a home run for a lot of people. Absolutely love Splurge and Good Humans, drinking a several months old Goodnight Bodacious right now and it's still delicious.

I think Short's deserves credit for continuing to do what they do and distributing only 6 packs (or 12) at good prices regardless of ABV. I've seen a slight increase in the last month due to inflation/increased costs I'm sure, but still...I will buy sixers of their stuff all day before I start dropping 18ish plus for a four pack of the more haze centric breweries...

The Anni Party site (link above) has been updated with some information:

Limited tickets available (VIP and General Admission) due to the tickets from 2020 being honored.

    3 pm: VIP pre-party
    4 pm: General Admission
    9 pm: Party's Over

Bands, Food Trucks, and tap list: TBD

Looks like shuttles will be running from downtown to Shanty Creek.

Pours are 8 Oz, 6 tokens included with admission. Additional tokens are $2.50.

They're promising exclusives for pours and bottles, as usual. Would like to know what the tap list is going to look like!

Can't wait to have Nicie back for the summer.

I also wonder how hard that variety pack is going to be to find. I didnt even see the IPA one outside of Short's Mart.

I'm wondering that, too. Anytime Shortscake or Key Lime had been released, it's been pretty tight (especially Lime). And if you want to get some of the IPA pack, come down Livonia way we had plenty and I'm sure there's a few places that still have some.

Hey Short's Fans, just noticed some additions when checking out the release schedule:

Looks like we'll be able to find each of the Dessert Island brews on tap, and the variety pack is coming in May.

In addition, we're (as in we Michiganders) will be getting Local's Light Lime in June. Not too shabby for summer.

If anyone is wanting to visit Short's at the Bellaire location, check social media first before going in the next couple days. They announced closure today and the next couple days because of staff shortage. That's one of the bad points of being in a small community - a lack of population to hire workers. However, the Pull Barn is open If anyone wants to visit that location.

Now, long time Short's Fans will remember another Thirst Mutilator released seven, eight years ago, which received another release as Thirstie Mutilator (see below).

The new one seems to be a lemon-lime type ale. TTB online is down right now, so I can't glean anything from label approvals. Anyone have a guess to what we're getting?

OK, so I can understand why they'd do a six pack, Key Lime was always extremely limited when it was released and Peaches hasn't seen a retail store in, what, over a decade?
But a six pack variety? *grumbles like Marge Simpson*

Also, Gitchy didn't get an announcement on their FB page but it's out there in the wild, and I've got the sixer in my fridge to prove it. Kolsch style with lemon and cucumber. I haven't cracked one yet, but I have fond memories of it one tap. Although that version had lilac as well, which is missing here.

I'd rather have the real desserts than a mere shadow of their flavors and textures in a bland and mediocre base of a beer. Perhaps I'm longing for a bygone time when beer actually looked and tasted and felt like a brewer's commitment to the best in malted barley, hops, yeast, and water.

Picked up the Dessert Island pack today for $13.99. Shorts Cake strikes a nostalgia chord for me for some reason, but Peaches underwhelmed when I first had it (2013 maybe?), so glad to have another crack at it.

Does seem to be limited as the store I got mine from said they ordered 5 cases and received 2.
