The place near me just got some (Livonia Fine Wine & Liquor). Picked up a couple six packs immediately. They're chilling right now.

So if you feel like crossing the border....

I just want beer that tastes like beer.

I still don’t get Peaches and Cream. I really want to. I just don’t get the hype. Drinking one now. I love both KLP and Shorts Cake, but for some reason, P&C isn’t my thing I guess.

On KLP and Shorts Cake, I love how the adjunct flavors are there, but not over the top. Very well crafted, even after all these years. They taste the same as when I tried them all those years ago. Like I said previously, seriously scratching my nostalgia itch…

If you're like me and my neutral appreciation for that beer (not a dislike), peaches are not even close to being a favorite fruit, so there's that as a reason.

Good point. I’m in that same camp. I don’t dislike it or the fruit, but I guess my comment is due to the fact that so many in my circle LOVE that beer, and it seems to be one everyone clamors for when any talk of rebrew requests surface.

Having the full Dessert Island experience this weekend, I felt Shorts Cake was the weakest link. Unless you’re making beer smoothies, I think it’s hard to impart a good strawberry flavor in beer. KLP and P&C were a little more true to form for me.

Picked at the edge of the label of a Key Lime and got a surprise. I'm laughing my ass of and I don't know why

Short's Cake is always a love it/leave it one for me. This release is one of the love it ones, since the strawberry is more jammy that tart. Part of the risk of being at the mercy of crops each year, I guess.

    Peaches, however, exceeds expectations.

I was most nervous about Key Lime, since it's one of my favorites. Would it be as good as I remembered? The answer was, hell yeah it is. Even better, which is weird. They've really dialed in the the tartness of a Key Lime, where in the past the malt/graham cracker would compose at least half the flavor.

I made the same discovery since I save labels.

We secretly switched @Tripel_Threat ’s Key Lime Pie with Local’s Light. Let’s see if he notices …

I was expecting locals light lime to be a version of Cerveza de Julie and it actually is a key lime pie light, which I'm perfectly okay with.

Well, I've been checking daily when the heck the release schedule would be updated since we're into July, and viola...there it is. I'll let someone else post them images if they want to/know how but there's a couple that I'm very interested in.

Dock Sitting seems right up my alley, Sour Parade might be interesting, not huge into pumpkins but this is the first bottling of Pumpkincrusha I believe, and Switcheroo...why not?

    Enjoy!

Dock Sitting is really good, hoping that the second September slot ends up being a harvest ale (Kind Ale, Devils Lettuce, or Lazy Leaf)

I'm happy to see that Melt My Brain is coming back. That one just scratches my itch perfectly for a thirst quencher.

And the 4th quarter is not announced yet so that still gives me hope that Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster will make a return. It's been 2-3 years now since its last showing. Maybe the decision makers at Short's read this thread regularly for feedback? Listen up you guys.....

Unfortunately Melt my Brain will be considered a specialty release, meaning it will be 15 bucks a six pack, like Nicie is this year. I have no problem spending 14.99 or 15.99 a sixer for something like Spruce Pilsner, but that price for a 4% beer is a bit much IMO.

  23. Zorak2

    Zorak2 Devotee (317) Nov 5, 2016 Michigan

Yeah that took me by suprise seeing $14.99 on the Nicie sixers. I remember when it was $9.99 at the pub a few years ago.

Ugg! It was $15.99 for a 6-pack of cans at Horrocks here in Battle Creek. But I love that beer so much I sprang for it.

Thats how much a 12 pack was a couple years ago. I know the cost of everything has gone up, but convince me that a 6 pack of Melt my Brain costs as much to make as a 12 pack of Huma.

$16 for 6/12 oz cans. From my addled perspective, anything over $2/can for a 12oz weakens the value proposition for any beer that isn't high gravity. Rum is starting to taste better and better....

Has anyone tried mixing these 3 all together? It's either crazy or genius but I've seen worst combos on the shelf. I think I'll try it tomorrow unless you all talk me out of it!

Was ok but wouldn't really recommend it. The Peach is a little too sweet for the other two I think. I might try Strawberry and Key Lime together some time tho.

Finally nice having some Pumpkincrusha at home. Tasting good as always and can't believe it took this long to bottle it.

Also this time of year has me longing for some Noble Chaos and the original Autumn Ale.
