This highly anticipated specialty offering is on schedule to be bottled within a few days.
any idea how long this will be out for? I am coming to MI in early May for my brother's graduation and this seems like a perfect beer to sit back and enjoy with the family.
It will most likely hit stores in early April, so you will probably be able to find it, if you search around enough.
Specialty offerings are only released once a year, though, so if demand is high, finding some in May could be challenging.
Thanks for the input. My parents live really close to the brewery so I might just have them snag some from around town and bring it downstate just in-case
Sweet! I love sessionable IPAs, and the wet-hopped Kind Ale was so good!
What's the ABV on this? Also, I'm really curious what the difference is between "session IPA" and "hoppy pale ale". I can't really see one.
So is this the same recipe as the Ale La Reverend with a new name?
Ale La Reverend is a different beer which will be released later in the year.
ABV of Prolonged is around 3.5-4%
Session IPA's are known for their low ABV, hence the "Session". Hoppy Pale Ales can have more of a variance.
Ale La Reverend was amazing last year. Looking forward to this one
I am sure this would be good stuff, but think personally I would rather session and take my time with reg. ipas. Just had Short's ControversiALE and for the abv, just take your time as I believe this would be have more flavour. But somewhat unfair as I have not had this yet. Just going off experience.
Can't wait for this sexy beast!
Hope it is cheaper then All Day IPA
What have you seen All Day at $-wise?
$10.59 per 6 pack I believe (for a 4% ish AVB....seems steep)
$9.99 for All day here.
Not too worried about it since most of my All Day is on tap, anyway, but do you think Founder's could sell it for less if they wanted to? $7.99 or $8.99?? Their capacity certainly isn't that of Sierra Nevada, but don't you think this would popularize the beer further if feasible for them?
Damn, the Meijer I go to in Howell originally had All Day for 10.99, but the last month they have dropped it down to 7.99, although its not the freshest.
Can't wait for the PE, had it on tap at the pub and liked it. I have been drinkin controversiALE lately to get my fix.
Just got back from Shorts, where I had some PE on tap. It was very good. I'd have enjoyed it more if I hadn't just wrecked my palate with some Hopstache. In any case, this is a good alternative to Founders All Day...
Anybody know if we can expect The Curl this year?
God I hope so love that beer.
The Short's website states that the Curl will available for spring 2012.
you beat me to it.
Looking forward to it! thanks
I picked up a six pack for $9.49 in Dearborn.
I know where I will be going after work on Tuesday.
Great! I hope to find this today.
I am a HUGE fan of All Day IPA and drink it a good amount. When drinking Prolonged Enjoyment next to it, I was blown away. It wasn't watery on the end and tasted beautiful for such a low ABV brew. Excellent job again from Short's.
And on Short's release list in the Michigan Beer Guide it says May for The Curl.
I'm glad I found this today. Picked up the last six-pack from the store by my office.
Holiday Market just sent out an FB post. They have it at $8.99/six pack. It's only 3.5% abv.
Sidebar- I paid $8.99 for All Day IPA
I have only found this one place so far in GR and it was only by the bottle. I would have liked to buy a 6pk of it, but by the bottle seems to cost more when putting them all together. At least I'll get to try it though!
Since my last post, PE has become widely available in my area for the time being. I was able to pick up a sixer. What a great beer! I can only hope it becomes a year round brew some day.
I agree- its a great beer. Why not make it year round?
Now it is. Prolonged Enjoyment will debut as a year-round beer in mid-June and will be available in 12-packs as well.
I'd rather take my time and savor two strong ales rather than drinking 4 sessions any day of the week but I might be in the minority on that
I'll be interested to see how well the beer sells. Short's will have some tough competition with All-Day IPA already available in plentiful quantities statewide and in canned 15-packs too.
But being a huge fan of Shorts, I am sure I will buy a case or two this summer!
It's the session beer craze.....
I'm likely to get some too. I get a lot of Short's stuff but I haven't had Prolonged Enjoyment.
With any luck, they will usher out a new 18-pack sampler too!
What's a typical price for the PE 12 pack?
