That means we might see everything months after their release in NW Indiana. :astonished: And I'll still be shopping in Michigan.....

Great news! If available, I'd buy Huma Lupa over any WI brewed IPA. Still haven't found one in-state that really blew me away.

In the unlikely event that Cup a Joe makes it to Indiana, I would be happy.

Exactly. Bottle dates in NW Wisconsin make it a no-go.

Dunno if you get Fantasy Factory up there, but yeah I mostly agree with you there.

Before everyone gets excited, make sure to read the article.

It's an exclusivity thing with Meijer stores. If you don't have a local Meijer, and you're not in the distribution areas within IL/PA/MI, you're still not going to have access to Short's beer for the time being.

So, based on the article, it'll only be available in Meijer stores?

If they're trying to really get into the Chicago market, making it available exclusively at Meijer is not a wise idea.

That's not how it's going to work.

Chicago is part of the distribution expansion Short's announced a few weeks back. Beer will be coming via Breakthru Beverage. Just about every liquor store and bar will have access to purchase it.

This link, which references additional markets like Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin... Those states which are outside of the normal distribution area for Short's -- it sounds like the beer will be exclusive to Meijer stores.

That makes more sense, and kinda what I thought originally when I read the article. When I read the comments on here about it being exclusive to Meijer, it seemed strange for our market. Speaking of which, anyone hear when we are supposed to start seeing it on shelves?

Next week... At least.. it should be.

Bar down here in the Bloomington area (Kemp's Upper Tap in Lexington) has a kickoff party scheduled for March 8th. Would imagine the beer will show up on shelves beforehand.

Unfortunately Fantasy Factory doesn't make it this far north. I would really like to try it though. I'll be passing through Madison on my way to Milwaukee for work in a few weeks. Hoping to get my hands on some Karben 4 and Black Husky on my way through. I hear good things about both breweries

When breweries switch from bombers to 12-ounce bottles I always feel like Merry in The Fellowship of the Ring -- "It comes in pints!"

They had expanded when the MI law changed, allowing "microbreweries" to go to 60k barrels. Don't know where they are now. To be clear, Bell's and Founders are "Brewers" as far as license and state excise tax goes.

I'm guessing little/no production jump, and that this is the way to minimize the shelf-turding that's likely currently happening in Michigan.

Interestingly enough, there are a few in Michigan that are among the optimal places to buy local beer!

The one that opened in WI near Milwaukee seemed very much like a Walmart. Produce sucked, completely out of a lot of stuff, and just a disaster in general. I was excited to see their beer selection but it was awful. Maybe things have changed but my experience was bad enough where I won't be going back. It's too bad.

I understand about the Walmart feel. Some are nicer as others. As far as the beer goes, well- Michigan has better beer than Wisconsin.
