Did anyone go this weekend to purchase and/or try the Shared Coffee Stouts? Very interested to hear how they are.

I went on Saturday and had the Iced which was surprisingly smooth and then also had the Peruvian which I like the best as I am a dark roast fan with no additives to my coffee. Just my 2 cents and I enjoyed the Colombian when it was on draft the 1st time as well.

I went Saturday afternoon (no lines for me) and found both beers to be quite nice. As mentioned above, the iced coffee stout was excellent. I couldn't believe how smooth it was for such a high ABV beer.

Also, I believe bottles are still available

I don't think so, its a pretty small place anyway so there isn't a lot to see

There aren't any tours at SP. You can grab a beer, go through the double doors, stand on the deck and see the entire operation.

For those that do not want to find it:

    MAY 16, 2017
Fermier Day is Saturday, May 20th!

On Saturday, May 20th at both the Brewery and The Side Project Cellar, we are going to introduce Kriek du Fermier for on-site enjoyment during Fermier Day!

Saturday, at the Brewery, I am pulling out several variants of Saison du Fermier to enjoy as well to kick off Kriek du Fermier. These will be available for on-site enjoyment at the Brewery for Fermier Day:

Saison du Fermier from a Missouri Oak Foedre Blend #1 ("Foedre Fermier")
    Saison du Fermier Blend #2
    Saison du Fermier Blend #3
Saison du Fermier from Pinot Noir Puncheons Blend #1
    Abricot du Fermier Blend #2
    Bleuet du Fermier Blend #1
    Kriek du Fermier Blend #1
    Oude Fermier Blend #2

For those of you close to Side Project, you know that Kriek du Fermier has been in the works for several years now, but I can say that the wait was worth it. For the first Blend and release of KdF, we were fortunate enough to be allowed to use the Danish cherries from Frederiksdal. I first tasted the Frederiksdal Cherry Wines at the Mikkeller Copenhagen Beer Celebration in 2015. Their Cherry Wines were unlike anything I had had before and were distinctive in their cherry acidity, flavor and aroma. When we were given the opportunity to use these cherries, I was excited to put them in our favorite base for fruit, Saison du Fermier.

After more than a year from the initial brew day, Kriek du Fermier was bottled and has naturally conditioned in the bottle and it ready to be shared. Along with KdF, Oude Fermier Blend #2 will be on the list for the first time at the Brewery!

Oude Fermier Blend #2 started life as Saison du Fermier - our spelt Saison that was barrel-fermented in new-to-us French Oak Chardonnay barrels with our Missouri cultures - but at maturity, the best barrel was selected to age longer. Unlike Blend #1, which spent 12 months in oak and 6 months conditioning before release, #2 was aged for 24 months before being bottled and naturally conditioned for 8 months before being shared with you. The extended aging and more impactful oak presence was inspired by my love for the white Grand Crus of Burgundy.

I couldn't be happier with how Saison du Fermier has progressed and aged over the years and I am excited to dig into our library of aged variants to share this weekend.

Kriek du Fermier bottles will be available for on-site enjoyment starting Saturday at both the Brewery and The Side Project Cellar and will continue Sunday at the Brewery.

    Cheers,
    Cory and Karen King

What's a line cutter? Besides the obvious definition. How do you tell if they are a line cutter? Does someone usually let them in to cut the line?

Never attended a release, and while I want to, I'm not sure it's worth it at this point in my beer drinking.

Basically people joining their friends in line instead of going to the end like they should. Don't be scared to attend, there's always gonna be some dick heads but most everyone is cool

Ahh, I see. That's kinda what I figured, but wasn't sure.

I do want to attend. Hopefully a release I want lines up with work slowing down and I can afford a day off to come check out some tasty beer

    Cheers! Enjoy!

PN5 was a blend, not KdF in the strictest sense. Cory was able to salvage a bit of the brew.

Yes. Some have limits as high as 6, whereas, others have limits of 1. Just depends on the beer, quantity, and popularity.

For a specific example, during my visit, Grisette had a limit of 6, and Blended had a limit of 4.

A friend went last weekend and they only let him leave with a single bottle of each (even the Shared beers). He was trying to bring some back for our group and they pretty much shut him out. Not sure if this is normal or not.

I was at the Saison du Blé Blend #7 and Provence : Cup of Love release on Sat, May 27th and I thought the limit was 6 per person of each; I purchased 4 of each that day and then went this past Sunday and bought 2 more of each. I know that the Cellar was a smaller allotment (2 per person of each?) as a friend went there instead of the brewery later in the day on Sat, May 27th. I have personally bought multiples of each of the Shared beers released thus far so not sure what happened with your friend?

He was at the cellar on the 27th. I imagine he asked them how many he could buy with really big eyes and they may have thought he was just muling to sell or something. He's pretty new to the beer game. He's going back soon, though, so I'll make sure he's more in-the-know this time around.

Nah, don't think so. He still intends to share everything he bought with us.

They usuually have the limits written on the board, so they probably did think he was trying to pull something. They also might have been in disbelief that anybody is actually buying any Shared stuff other than Vibes and Proof of Concept

The Brewery chalkboard hasn't had limits for over a month now. And please speak for yourself...Base Weight is my favorite porter, Table Nouveau is a great saison that is drinkable and a solid meal beverage, J Dub Fan Club is a nice pale ale with passion fruit which I haven't had in any other beer, Oranges On Wheat is now filling my fridge as the perfect summer beer, and Safe Terminal was a solid barleywine. Disclosure: I am not a Cicerone; just a consumer who enjoys different beers, not just whales.

I don't think he meant any offense by it... Just that breweries that churn out massive whales can develop a particular resell crowd. If they were looking to turn a profit on reselling Grisette or Base Weight, they would be wasting their time compared with other Side Project brews. Not to be confused with bad brews.

I am curious how many times folks go into Side Project asking for a full allotment for everything as well.
