At $191 there isn't enough meat on the bones for flippers/bots etc. I'm sure that's part of it.

part of it, but also at $191, someone who isn't a sour fan is more likely to pass given paying that much for one bottle they actually want is a bit extreme.

The longer it remains available, the harder it becomes to resist the urge to grab a second package. Must...fight..the impulse. Kind of stunned it's lasting so long.

I’ve enjoyed the packages and online sale very much. Have been lucky enough to get BBT every year since these.

I almost didn't go for it this year, but chose to grab a package in the end after about 20-25 minutes from release.....

....That sounds very dirty actually, but I'll leave it since that was my original sentence/thought apparently.

I went ahead and picked up a BBT after opting out of the last several releases. I didn't check back to see if more was available. I may have taken the bait there and bought a second pack, so probably a good thing I didn't look....

Guess I gotta visit St. Louis again this winter!

    Tell that to The Bruery.

Explains why I've gotten several dozen notifications over the past few weeks, and not just from their multiple IG accounts, but emails sent directly to me as well. Can't remember the last time SP sent an email. They were pushing this release hard.

Pretty sure we figured out today why there is no BBT draft. I assume it went something like this:

CK: “Hey guys, I’m trying to figure out how many packages we’re going to have for BBT. Can someone run back and tally up how much Pulling Na…I’m sorry, did you say we have 3,500 bottles of PN?

Ok. …And, if we Bundle 1500 packages, how long will that take to sell out the other 2,000 remaining bottles?

18 fucking months, are you kidding me?

Fuck, ok. No BBT draft this year. We’ll have 3,500 BBT packages to go! We have to move these sours.

Oh, and fire whomever it is that made 3,500 bottles of PN. ”

I mean 2 years ago the BBT package was $181 and came with similar sours and a glass and sold out instantly.

The price & other bottles were not really a factor then, but now I think BBT doesn't sell for as much on secondary anymore. Back in 2020 BBT was still a $600 beer on secondary. But shortly thereafter dropped in the 400 range or so, and eventually down to 300-350.

Last years started around 500 again but then dropped down to 250 or so.

Now we are looking at 200-250 from the get go. So you are pretty much paying the secondary cost for a package, if you have no interest in the sours it makes sense to skip. And the package makes no sense for flippers really.

It all comes down to flippers sadly. Crazy how much they affect things. This inflation/recession could also be causing people to spend less.

Cost of living is also higher for most than it was in 2020.

I'd be willing to bet these packages lasting longer has far more to do with the supply side of things than any kind of demand factors. Yes - the cost of living was lower in 2020, and people had a surplus of cash from not being able to leave the house for 8 mos at that point, but the demand for a once a year bottle like BBT and the package that accompanies it isn't going to vary much amongst beer nerds, especially when the quality of said product hasn't fallen off. It's still highly regarded as one of the most anticipated releases annually. I think if that particular beer or style is something that you enjoy, and the opportunity presents itself, generally speaking, you'll cut corners elsewhere to spend it on this release if budget is an issue.

I see it as a win for everyone, (well except those looking to profit off it on secondary). The increase in packs causing the sale to stay up longer gave pretty much everyone that really wanted one a decent opportunity to get it. Even with the increase in supply I have confidence that BBT will be just as solid as ever. Plus, a nice little revenue generator for Side Project. And for those that don’t want the packages, well it seems there’s still plenty of people willing to buy it.
