Let’s see.. when I said something about the packages in this thread for Ambiente last year, Cory jumped in and decided to make it a single bottle purchase only.. so.. Cory.. what do ya think? Can we get a single bottle on achromatic? Pretty please?
I've had this conversation with Cory. From what I remember* Some of the Sp/shared recipes do, and some do not. I'm think vibes base does. Not sure other bases specifically. The BA stouts are many different bases blended usually. So it's never the same or a very quantifiable amount because of the blending process. Safe to assume any/all have at least a small amount and usually not a large amount. A straight up vibes non ba beer may be different though.
This is great news. Enjoyed the last one. If it is a package, I’m probably only in for a penny. If no package, I’m likely in for a pound****. ****….that’s like 2 or maybe 3 bottles, because they are going to be $50 each. What a tasty beer though.
I'm curious how a CdC that is essentially a fruited Oude Fermier is less expensive than a typical bottle of OF. $40 compared to $50+. It that because OF is aged longer, or just more for the unadulterated, fruitless version?
I gave up trying to understand price point anymore. They don’t make sense and there is no reason or logic.
I’d assume that the most perfect threads are saved for the unadulterated blend, and thus the ones that have fruit added to them for this CdC are “less valuable” (ie “not honey barrels” in whiskey parlance), justifying the lower price point. Old crow used to have “off” pappy barrels blended in, per Julian. *shrug*
i wondered if that wasn’t the case or they allocated less of it thinking they could sit on that well. 2018 has to be a shell of itself. i had it around Thanksgiving 2020 along with BBT19, BBT20 and Rye BBT and it was my least favorite of the group by far. was already falling apart then can’t imagine now.
That is right, @cdinardo21 and I shared BBT 18, 20, and DB gen at the cellar on Mon and 18 was not as good as the other two (right now) IMO. I wouldn't say falling off yet, but it has mellowed out to the point of being pretty close to something like Appervation. For the record, DB bourbon generational smoked BBT 18 and 20.
I had all 3 this weekend at the cellar as well, and 100% agree with this. DB bourbon gen was the best by far, followed by 2020, and finally 2018. 2018 was still solid, but not at the level I remember it was fresh.
Because everything is being called Oude now, so the Oude name doesn’t really mean anything anymore. That said, b2 of OF 19 please.
100% this. Though my first experience with either bbt being an out of towner. So never had it fresh. But db bourbon was just amazing. Lucky I got to try it as fresh as possible.

AC vibes is good but not good enough to make me want to buy a package for it. Guess it depends what it’s packaged with though
Our only hope is that, like the last release of this, it includes only one other bottle and the package is ~$80. I KNOW, I know...won't happen. But, please let me hold onto some hope...
it could actually include 2 additional bottles and still be $80 depending on the bottles they choose.
Slipping into town for a weekend of baseball with the kids. Hoping DB Gen lasts all weekend so I can ease over and enjoy that one at the cellar late one evening.
