guys, i think the we are all missing the most important point here and that is that here’s to 2023 being the year that CM gets a quarterly release.

Did the odd numbered BBTS tonight.
Even numbers in a couple of weeks with the same group.

    for me:
    B3 (2019) > Rye b1 (2020) > b5 (2021) > b1 (2017)

fwiw this was a fantastic bottle of 2017. Showing oxidation but all around an tasty stout. Touch of dark fruits. Good amount of barrel still.

Has anyone heard an update either way on OWK lasting beyond this weekend? I know an early reply on IG said “through at least this whole week”.

Was as the cellar today and the bartender mentioned there hasn't been definitive word on how long OWK will last or be available onsite, but it was their personal hunch that there won't be enough to last to Stout Week.

I was there Friday. I was at the Brewery/Taproom which were pouring the same bottles as the Cellar. I was amazed at how uncrowded it was. I was there from open til like 6 pm and it never filled to capacity. I would think it would be available this week but who knows? They did have a hand written sign regarding MJK and it was still on but implying it wouldn’t be for much longer. For me, MJK and BBT22 stole the show.

Cracked some beers this weekend. Flim Flam was awesome. Really good barleywine. Surprised it doesn’t get more hype. Also Peche du Ferm b2 is still holding up amazingly well. It was stupid how good it was.

Considering the brewery itself wants to differentiate every single batch of beer they do, seems reasonable to expect they do the same with describing the barrels they use.

Would you argue that OWK and BBT are the same beer because they had the same base recipe?

FWIW, looks like they changed the description on the BBT page and it doesn't say Pappy.

St. Louis is covered in ice; roads are terrible.

Seems fitting for BA Coco Vibes b2 release considering the condition from b1 release

BA Coco Vibes b2 would be the cherry on top of the icing covered in sprinkles dusted w/ sugar. I will hate all of you StL locals if the opportunity to cuvee OWK, MJK, BBT, & BA Coco Vibes together arises

    LOL

One has an extreme amount of vanilla and one doesn't. That's a terrible example of two things that are exactly the same with one being aged 20% longer.

When did the corkage fee/option to open outside bottles become a thing at the cellar? Never noticed it before.

I didn't know they charged for that. I saw someone bring a couple of Southern Grist bottles to the cellar on Saturday and I don't think they were charged for it

I tried to attach a picture but I’m dumb and it didn’t work. If you go to SPs websites and the cellar portion and look at the cellar section, the first note says:
*$10 Corkage Fee for outside bottles -

100% of this fee benefits our quarterly non-profit organization!

It’s the first time I’ve seen that and never seen it discussed here. I can say that back when I first joined BA I would see people talk about how people would go to SP and being outside bottles for essentially mini shares (impromptu shares, let’s say). A lot of times these were Perennial BA beers, but not always. At some point that seemed to stop (or at least people stopped mentioning it), but also I seem to recall at some point it being discussed that SP asked people to stop bringing in bottles for sharing like that. Not sure when that occurred or if there was any event surrounding that change.

Hopefully someone like @Heisenbrew that was both active on here and around at SP back then can chime in and confirm this, or correct me if my memory is a bit hazy.

I don’t think it’s ever been “allowed” per se but if it was a slow night or something, sure.

Definitely the first time I’ve seen a corkage fee listed.

are we thinking the corkage fee started a little while back (or shortly after) following the cellar thursdays where CK would open vintage bottles and thus maybe inspired others to bring their vintage bottles to share?

I've brought bottles to share on Cellar Thursdays and have never been charged for it but who knows. Maybe it has become more of a thing lately and they are tired of people sitting there drinking shit they brought in instead of buying something there lol

The corkage fee is new, as of the last few weeks. From my understanding it will not apply to Cellar Thursdays if that continues as long as Cory is there.

The sharing has definitely increased at the cellar as of late and besides the Thursdays with Cory it was never part of their plan. Nice that the proceeds are going to charity though.
