The liquor store by me has 3 bottles of Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Oak Aged Ale. When I looked it up it said it was released I believe fall of 2010.

Had it on tap during SC beer week and I really enjoyed it. Its drinking well and worth picking it up IMO.

Was it just released in 2010, if so would it hold up this long?

It is the cork finished bottle. I'll pick it up and try it out then.

There were four 30th anniversary beers from SN, which one is it? They're all good, and they're doing well with age too.

It was the Oak-Aged Ale. The cross between the aged Bigfoot and their Pale Ale.

The Grand Cru, I believe. Haven't had that in awhile, but Fritz & Ken's Ale--the stout--was still delicious the other day.

I still have 8 bottles of the 30th Barleywine and last one I opened was still as good as ever!

Should be good. that one and the BW supposed to have aged the best of the 4. i have a bottle or two of the grand cru youre talking about that ive been waiting on,but drank up all the black barleywine. strongly advise picking that up if you see it, it went from very good to amazing.

ps i loved the stout at release and still think its good but declining (declined after < 1 year)

I cracked my last bottle of black barleywine at the Central Waters 15th Anniversary party and it was just fantastic to say the least!

This is great news for me. One of the first beers I actually put away to age after having it tap and have since come across three more bottles. What a success story. Opened one of my remaining bottles around New Year's and it just keeps getting better.

i shared one of these a few weeks ago and i thought it was perfectly balanced right now. Fresh this was basically bigfoot IMO and now the hops have faded nicely. I couldn't detect any alcohol, so smooth and tasty. Any further aging this will gradually get sweater i imagine. I would pick these up if i saw them on the shelf.

    cheers

My Fritz & Ken's are still great! I have an extra of the Fritz & Kens if some one wants to swap it for a Jack & Kens?

I had a bottle of the black barleywine about a year ago and felt it hadn't held up well at all. YMMV, of course, and I've got another bottle in the cellar that I'm going to forget about in the hopes that after more extended aging it'll be better than that one was. . . .
