Picked up my 6 pack this week. Packaged 9/30/22

First impression...seems less bitter, a bit paler, and considerably smoother than I remember. No matter, I love this beer no matter the yearly profile.

Purchased my annual six-pack today -- fresh off the truck. Canned 10-05-22.

Very similar to my '21 perceptions, if maybe a little lighter in sweetish biscuit malt backbone.

Still conjurs up reminiscence of the early days of craft brewing -- when there were very few beers like this on shelves.

Great stuff, not to be missed.

Canned on 10/4 with a C. Aroma from the can is citrus and floral. Taste is pine with grapefruit a close second. More bitter than I remember. The sweet malt is there, but not near as much as you’d expect from the color. Very good!

Spotted and scored a 12-er at one of my only locals that carries (sometimes) Sierra Nevada seasonal 12-packs for $19.99. That price was a bit of a shocker but not surprising given prices on beer and everything else these days plus it's drinking like it always does and has - awesome. Cheers!

Thankfully the log of Celebration I ordered came in yesterday. I got it loaded into the kegerator and had a couple pours last night. It's drinking beautifully!

picked up 6 this morning, no price on the shelf but was pleasantly surprised it only rang up at 9.99. nervous every year that this will gradually turn more and more into a modern IPA profile and lose its classic touch. Glad to see so far it looks like reports are solid!

Picked up a sixer of cans, dated 10/5. $11.

Wegmans had 12 packs for $16 but they were warm. Call me a snob but I like my hops cold if I can get ‘em that way.

This is the only beer (besides Hamms) that I'll buy by the case. $37.99 before tax. My local said they got 100 cases but also said if I wanted any for the holidays I should get it before mid December. I remember looking for it around Christmas last year and they were out. Cheers!

<sigh> No, not for craft, even if you take 'craft' pretty broadly. This Celebration is a very aggressive price, even for our big box discount supermarket (Winco). The mainline independent breweries are pricing their year-round regular IPAs and Pale Ales in the $12-$14 range. Taxes and can deposits - in Oregon - are also higher.

Has anyone had a Celebration on draft? A few places around me show it available on draft, on the beer finder, but that just means they had kegs delivered

If you haven't had Celebration Ale on draft, I suggest you do yourself a favor and belly up to a nearby bar. You prompted me to look at my local options and I have a few which are in walking distance. Cheers.

I went to a local liquor/beer store after seeing that local HEBs got it in stock. I asked someone working there after not being able to find it, and he said they hadn't gotten it in yet, but the nearby TW had. I told him I preferred to not shop there, but that I'd give them a try in this case. I then went to that TW and...no Celebration, even after asking. At this point I was annoyed, but since I knew HEB had it, I bit the bullet and drove there. Finally, sitting upon a shelf (warm, unfortunately) were 6 packs. I asked someone if they had 12 packs in stock -- she asked what brand Celebration was. I responded, "Oh, Sierra Nevada," but she had "never heard of them." :grimacing:

So after a string of bad luck, I decided to just take 2 warm $10.50 6-packs and call it a day.

Not the most fun experience finding it, but I had 2 last night and thoroughly enjoyed both! It does seem a little different to last year's flavor profile, but not any less enjoyable.

    Cheers to Celebration! :beers:

I should have phrased that comment better. I’ve had Celebration on draft over a period of many years, beginning in the early nineties. I haven’t had it on draft yet this year. The beer finder will tell you if kegs have been delivered, but that doesn’t mean that the kegs have been tapped. My local shows a delivery, but they are waiting for a keg of Hazy Little to kick before they tap the Celebration. They blow through Hazy Little and everything else they have on draft so it will be available any day.

Following clues gathered while following this thread, I got on the phone and called one of my favorite beer places (Riverside Market Café OG). Spoke with the beertender and final result (short story) is, they have a keg and it's on the short list for when the next one kicks.
I suspect the distributor has it at the warehouse (packs), but is waiting for stocks of other products to move before releasing Celebration. This has happened in the past. This could be a result of all these seltzer taking up shelf space, so they could be limited in that manner. Just my opinion here.
He suggested I call back on Monday.

My only frustration so far is that I can't find 6 packs. Liquid Hoppiness still occupies those slots. I'm going to a BBQ and only wanted to bring a 6 pack.

Easy enough "problem" to solve. Doesn't everyone* have a beer case full of these, waiting to be recycled?
(You can even do a 4-pack.)

    * Truth be told, I don't have a case like that. I have 2 - one is full.

Saw a big stack of it today, $11.99 and canned on 10/05. I passed for now, as this beer is a few singles/a six pack at most for me type of beer and it's already made it's way into the singles section so I'll grab a few eventually. I try at least one every year just to check the flavor profile and for nostalgia purposes but I'm sure most around here know my feelings on this beer by now. But hey that just means more for everyone else

Oh, sorry. I was trying to to make some tongue-in-cheek statement that the price was not spendy at all compared to the examples i gave later, but i got distracted and didn't proofread before posting.

    My bad.

Well the 12 pack i bought got left at work, and I don't necessarily need anymore beer at home. But I should've just pulled the trigger cause the alternative I ended up with was not near as satisfying

I've seen 12 packs everywhere in my area and literally have seen (and subsequently bought) only one six pack at all stores I've been too.

I suppose that's understandable, they're a large brewery so places will stock more 12 packs than 6 packs.

Have you noticed if the places that didn't have 6 packs had liquid hoppiness 6 packs still? My impression has been that places are waiting to empty that seasonal slot before getting 6s of celebration from the distributor. I don't remember seeing liquid hoppiness in 12 packs, but maybe retailers just didn't jump on them as heavily since it was an untested brand
