Thought I heard it was heading to distributors on the 17th of this month, so it seems unlikely they've got this year's batch

 

Yeah, I've had some that were near 3 years old and I reckoned that they were just fine.

 

A few years ago, I was in a bar owned by first time bar owners. It was toward the end of summer, and I ordered a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on draft. I watched the bartender pour from the Pale Ale labeled tap handle. I was served a Celebration Ale; it was actually a pleasant surprise. The hops had faded somewhat but hop malt balance hadn't shifted all that much and I didn't detect any oxidation or other ill effect of age. I asked the bartender to take a look at the top of the keg and she confirmed that it was Celebration. I drank 2 pints and told her to let the owner know, so he could take it up with his beer distributor

 

I believe I should have enough bottles of celebration to do a 5-6 year vertical of it. I do have some 2020 and 2021 to compare
To this year’s 2022 when it comes out!

I don't know why, but all this aged Celebration talk is making me want to experiment with blending Celebration and Bigfoot

 

Sierra Nevada did that for their 30th anniversary, they included Pale Ale for good measure.
It was great, I had a few bottles and draft pours

A blend of three beers and aggressively dry hopped. 22% barrel aged : 78% ale

1. Oak aged Bigfoot Barleywine
2. Celebration Ale
3. Pale Ale (fresh)

The last of the 30th Anniversary ales had to be huge and the team at Sierra Nevada chose to showcase three well-loved brews the produce into one historic concoction. These beers (a barleywine, IPA, and hoppy APA) were blended together and they fit perfectly! Corked and caged like prior brews, it developed a silky cream colored head as I poured the vibrant ruby-amber-copper hue into my snifter. With a generous swirl (after pictures) I noticed it had some legs as well.

Rumor has it, Sierra Nevada is replacing celebration IPA with a lager.

I started that rumor, just now.

 

Just got this today as a freebie/packing material with a glassware order. They’re taunting me!

 

I would buy that all day.

Does North Coast still brew their Old Stock Ale? That was one of my favorite brews, but I haven't seen it in a long time.

 

I went grocery shopping at my local Giant (KoP) and looked to see if they had this Hoppy Sampler pack in stock. They had an old pack (it had Atomic as part of the pack).

Maybe I will see this new pack after Christmas?

I saw that pack recently. Thought it was a nice hoppy mix. Put it back as it was packed in early May. Thought I might have stumbled into fresh Dankful.

I believe it's still made. The barrel aged version seems to come around from time to time as well

that 2020 brandy barrel aged old stock i found got me excited as hell to try one. i also have a 2013 cellar reserve old stock ill open at the 10 year mark

 

Damn, I'm gonna have to seek that one out. That's a beer that would probably play very well with brandy

 

A fresh* wet hop brew that's from cryo hops...oh the humanity! Even I'm pissed about that nomenclature, labeling and marketing.

I hardly age much any more, but this one ages quite nicely. Even my overaged bottles are enjoyable.

 

It kind of reminds me of the marketing for Lagunitas Born Again Yesterday.

 

But wait! There's More! You can get a BIG Little beer:

 

Oh yeah, wasn't that beer brewed using frozen wet hops? Hmm seems like SN might be disregarding all kinds of labeling conventions AND rewriting history. But maybe I'm just forgetting the whole story with Born Again.

There's also this doozy from the beers page on the SN website;

Let's just say that I can think of a couple things closer to that (which, I believe you can do that at some Yakima breweries) than buying a beer made with frozen hops

 

Yes, and they went with the "fresh wet hops at anytime" angle also.

 

I get why they go with this angle, but I'm not convinced it's the way to go. The whole "fresh/wet hop" thing is a bit niche even in the PNW. I'm not convinced it's a real selling point to the wider beer audience, although food and beverage makers seem to have made a lot of hay out of the whole concept of "fresh" so I guess that makes sense.

 

I think a store by me has an "aged beer shelf" (purposely aged) and may have some back to 2008...

Same exact hop and malt profile. Aged Celebration tastes like a mini aged Bigfoot to me.

 

To play devils advocate for the the period in the season for fresh wet hops....if you can obtain that whenever.....then where's the push for urgency to get these beers?

 

New label for a possible new entry in the SN 'Little Thing' lineup. And before you say, "Oh Sierra Nevada, not another IP...." read the label . Hopefully standalone six packs but I'm guessing it will be in an upcoming Little Things Party Pack possibly? I'm definitely up for trying it should it be available in my market.

I’m in. Seems like they’ve found a line of branding that works, although I’ve always been a fan of their classic labels.

 

It's weird what they're doing with the "little thing" brand. I thought it was gonna be their hazy ipa brand, but now they've got a kettle sour and a pale lager?

Is this Grossman family judo? Will they have the new school little thing drinkers sipping thing branded versions of all of the classics? Stout little thing, tumbled little thing, southern Gothic little thing, etc

 

Interesting. Make the hops traditional European hops, please. (not holding my breath)

 

You left off Pale Little Thing and Celebration Little Thing. (Also,I’m not sure how Bigfoot fits. Big Little Foot?)

 

I'm sure Six Flags is a careful curator of all of their beverages........Hopefully.
