Long version: There is a whole bunch of styles going on there. The textured fill around the central illustration has that geometric Art Deco feel, but is ornate enough for Art Nouveau. Yet the illustration of the narwhal and the ship is very representational, not the flat/abstracted style of Deco. The containing shapes and the typeface for "Imperial Stout" suggest late 19th/early 20th century financial documents, while the Narwhal wordmark has an almost "wild west" thing going on.

Short version: That's another great looking label for Sierra Nevada, and I can't wait to try this beer.

Just another reason why Sierra Nevada is my favorite brewery.

Looking forward to this, for sure.

    I full expect $9.99 or $10.99 a 4-pack for this. Ain't too shabby.

It'll be the same price as Hoptimum was. The big thing for breweries right now is to have more annually available SKUs to attempt to get shelf space in grocery stores - Many grocery stores won't make room on the shelf for a beer unless they're going to have something to fill that spot at the same price all year. That's the point of the Hoptimum-->Narwhal-->Bigfoot cycle, in theory. Same thing with Terrapin's four pack lineup.

I figured that was the case, hence why I thought it would be the $9.99 that Hoptimum rolled for around these parts. Atleast Sierra Nevada has this "High Altitude" series, of bigger beers in 4 packs for a good price. Terrapin has some session beer this year they released in 4 packs for the same price as their bigger beers!

And to put it out there, who the hell buys session beers in 4 packs?!

From what I understand, the brewers at Terrapin thought it was bullshit that Easy Rider was sold for that much, but the "marketing department" (read: Tenth and Blake) said they needed to fill their four-pack SKU.

And I guess I'm part of the problem, because I liked Easy Rider so much that I picked up a ten dollar four-pack.

I got easy rider on tap and enjoyed it, so I also bought a 4 pack because I wanted something to drink one night during the week and wanted volume but not be blasted for work in the morning.

I stopped after that though. If they were smart, they'd make it 6 packs, and price it like their normal year round offerings and I think THAT would be a better marketing take on it.

But whatever... Good beer around, SN or Terrapin aside, glad it's expanding and glad there is always new stuff.

Absolutely love that art work. Looks like I'll need to stop by the brewery next time I'm in the area for a free poster

I'm pretty sure there's already a narwhal beer in brooklyn ny. And I think barrier brewing had the name ruthless rye before sierra or something... damn it sierra try being a little more original!

not to trash some start up, but I think Sierra Nevada wins since they aren't calling the brewery Narwhal, just the beer. Also Since Narwhal isn't bottling and producing, there is every chance that they never will. Hopefully they make it and maybe someday could collaborate on something with Sierra.

This looks awesome. And I love that it's in 12oz bottles instead of bombers.

Finally in stores! Or, at least, in the SN gift shop. $9.99 for a 4 pack of 12oz. bottles.

"Inspired by the mysterious creature that dwells in the deepest Arctic seas, Narwhal Imperial Stout is midnight black and bold--with notes of baker's cocoa and dark roasted coffee. This massive imperial stout is incredibly complex and explores the darkest depths of malt flavor."

Thank the beer gods. I've been eagerly waiting for this to start showing up. Not that I don't already have a ton of stout for the cold months.
